Job Description : SOE delivers IT infrastructure and application services to Maersk brands in over 600 offices across most countries. Within the Network & Enterprise Voice team with SOE there is an opening for a Network & Enterprise Voice – Technical Writer.

The Technical Writer will produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of the Network & Enterprise Voice Operations team. They will join a team of network operations engineers in India and the UK who work collaboratively with many Maersk business units, other IT experts, project managers, and a wide range of operations support teams to continuously improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency. The technology supported by Network & Enterprise Voice Operations is primarily firewalls, WAN, LAN, Enterprise Voice, Capacity Management, Commercial Change Management and Vendor billing and other operations withing SOE areas will be incorporated into the scope.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for the following (note this list is not exhaustive):

Working with operational network engineers in internal teams on their documentation requirements for operational procedures, processes and technology explainers.
Producing high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience and use.Create and maintain paper-based and digital operating technical documentation standards, style guides and glossaries.Writing easy-to-understand quick references, knowledge base articles and detailed support guides.Coaching/training of technical staff with regards to writing.Drive technical document management activities.Edit, improve and standardise the design and support documents provided by other teams.
Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and making improvements as necessary.Project Design documentation reviews.Assist architecture and engineering teams where necessary and challenge where necessary from a documentation perspective.Look for opportunities to improve the Operational environment to continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.Liaising with project teams to help deliver on-time with a minimum of friction.
Expand, improve, and maintain the Network & Enterprise Voice Operations knowledge base library.Write clear, concise and attractive copy with a distinct voice.Interpret writing briefs and requirements and conduct high-quality research and interviews with engineers and managers.Edit and proofread new and existing copy as needed.Source or create images or diagrams, create indexing and other structural content.Significantly improving the organization’s retained knowledge, effectiveness and efficiency.

Key responsibilities
Essential Criteria

Proven 5+ years of working experience in technical writing of software or IT support documentation.Ability to quickly deliver consistently high-quality documentation.Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.Excellent written skills in English with very strong attention to detail.10+ years deep Microsoft Word (or other advance word processing) experience.Proven track record of technical environment improvement.Experience of delivering/managing documentation on a global basis.Strong business analysis skills.
Nice to have
Solid technical operations experience: working knowledge of tools and processes such as code versioning.A degree from a recognized university. (Numerate or technical major preferred)Strong working knowledge of other Microsoft Office and knowledge sharing applications.ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation certified.
