We are searching for a top-level Lead Software Engineer to join us at PayPal on our Pricing and FX Insights Platforms Team. The Lead Software Engineer will responsible in building large scale and distributed fault tolerant enterprise applications, collaborating with cross functional teams, platform architecture, data governance and product team to deliver high quality platform product with zero noise in production and zero customer impact
You will contribute to designing, coding, testing, push it to live, own the component and improving the performance of the component in live. You will also help with:
Collaborating with cross functional teams, platform architecture, data governance and product team and deliver compelling solutions
Design and develop the logical and physical data model for Pricing Insights Data platform
Build large scale and distributed fault tolerant enterprise applications using Hadoop and related open-source Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Spark Streaming, Hive, HBase, YARN, etc
Be a problem solver and drive to get results
Translate product requirement into functional/business logic
Participate in the full development lifecycle, including design, coding, review, automated testing, and production releases of backend services & batch application
Building high throughput event driven streaming data pipeline using cutting edge technologies
Build and maintaining the Spring boot batch applications
Building REST API/services using Spring framework which reads the data from SOR, perform business logic, and expose the output data to client in REST API
Scheduling jobs using UC4, Apache Airflow
Find and fixing performance, scalability and other live issues in a time critical environment
We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer with the ability to own their code and work on a broad range of different projects in backend services that mainly deals with enterprise operational data. Building, designing, and developing Java Spring batches, mid-tier REST services, Spark jobs, Creating Hive tables, build and maintain scalable data pipeline. What we are looking for:
5+ years’ experience in building large scale and distributed fault tolerant enterprise applications using Hadoop and related open-source Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Spark Streaming, Spark Sql, Hive, HBase, YARN, etc.
Solid programming experience in Java based spark programming is preferred
Experience in building scalable real time systems and streaming solutions is preferred
Proficiency in Java Stack, Server-Side Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, Spring JDBCTemplate, Maven, Github, and other open sources Java Libraries.
3+ Years of experience in Web Services, SOA, REST APIs and Message Queue
Experience in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Node Js, React.js, Redux and webpack is a plus
Knowledge in one of the Public Cloud Services like AWS or GCP is a plus
Ability to troubleshoot, analyzing logs and heap/core dump.
Database design, SQL programming, tuning and query optimization techniques
Test methodologies and testing tools, e.g., TestNG, JUnit.
Experience with Linux/Unix and shell scripting
Experience in developing and deploying a scalable system
Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams across time zones is essential
Experience with all aspects of big data systems including database design, ETL, and monitoring
A track record of delivering scalable big data-based solutions
Experience following the Agile methodologies
Great verbal and written communication skills when providing status reports and presenting to leadership.
Understanding on how to keep the team unblocked and focused
Experience growing the technical level of all members of the team
