Job Description : Essential Functions of the Job:
Drive best practices in Linux Server Platform engineering and define standards based on best practices
Define platform architecture and manage the lifecycle of our Products and its supporting Infrastructures services, along with their roadmaps
Design and supervise the development of the Configuration Management baselines and Golden Images for Linux Servers
Integrate the Golden Images and Configuration Management baseline with Server Provisioning processes and systems
Act as technical Lead for projects and work with the SCRUM Master (and act as in some cases) to coordinate the activities of the project teams
Design and supervise the development of Automation and Configuration Management solutions
Coordinate efforts and integrate the work of other teams and vendors which maintain and support our Products and its features to drive the roadmaps forward and deliver the value expected by our clients and stakeholders.
Onboarding and Readiness of new version of the Linux Operating System for Servers
Onboarding of new technologies and Evaluation/certification of Windows Server third party management agents and management software
Consulting and providing technical advice for major projects and solution Design based on their business requirements
Ad-hoc high visibility assignments commonly requiring automation and Linux Server platform skills, and reporting from different sources like Satellite, CMDB, Ansible, etc.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership, coaching and coordinate small teams of people for projects and initiatives
Translate the requirements of stakeholders, Product Owner and Product Manager into actionable backlog items and a manageable roadmap
Supervise (as Product Owner) the development and delivery of product engineering teams for product maintenance activities
Deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure, such as restoring services
Be able to make on the spot decisions based on direction from Product Owner and stakeholders
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.x / 7.x / 8.x Operating Systems
Working knowledge of the Red Hat Satellite 6.x systems management solution
Advanced level of scripting on Shell and Python
Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible or Puppet and CI/CD products like Azure DevOps Pipelines and Jenkins
Strong understanding of Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud of compute, network, storage, and virtualization environments
Programing background or equivalent knowledge of structured programming and object-oriented programming for scripting
Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Openshift and working with APIs and Microservices would be a plus
Experience working with Agile/SCRUM Development process and understanding of DevOps
Experience with VS Code or similar and Git source code management tools like GitHub or Azure DevOps
Experience working with Agile Development process and understanding of DevOps
Good knowledge of server hardware (preferably Dell PowerEdge) and experience maintaining bare-metal OS deployment process
Very Strong Problem Solving and Analytical skills
Ability to write technical documentation and procedures
Ability to work in a virtual team with an inclusive mindset and mindful of cultural differences, work across teams, regions and organizations
Ability communicate effectively and adapt style to interact with different roles such as stakeholders, management, clients, and colleagues
Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations and work under pressure in situations such as restoring services
Ability to operate with independence based on objectives defined by leaders and with reduced supervision
