The US Consumer Marketing (USC) organization leads prospect acquisition and customer marketing for U.S. Consumer & Global Premium Services, one of the largest growth engines within American Express. The team within USC is responsible for several key functions, including leadership of forecasting processes, delivery of performance reporting and insights, and operational management of USC&GPS’ marketing budget.
Within Investment Services, the goal of the Prospect Performance Insights team is to supervise and broadcast USC business results for Prospect Acquisitions relative to goals and over time. The vision is to enable leadership to view and react to marketing campaign performance in real time for agile decision making. We are currently looking for a seasoned System Architect on this team, who will be responsible for collecting the data from different sources and build the same into meaningful analytics to drive the objectives of USC, providing concrete data driven insights and consultative solutions to core marketing teams. At the manager level, the employee does not have a people leadership role but is often viewed as an emerging expert in the field. Focuses on resolution of sophisticated problems. Conducts analyses, recommends changes to policies, and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.
Ensure data quality/validation throughout all the stages of data sourcing/collection, normalization, alignment/mapping of different datasets, etc.
Write clean, concise, and balanced code in SQL, Python to automate and support day to day work
Perform code fixes/debug, unit testing & production support
Apply Machine Learning methods to specific business problems and data
Profile server resource usage and optimize/tweak as vital
Prepare documentation and ETL specifications
Collaborate with partners to craft and build new reporting. Prepare metrics to support leadership team to help grow the business
Manage your own process. Prioritize and complete high impact projects and ensure the timely delivery of projects
A passion for innovation with demonstrated ability to drive capabilities innovation and resultant business growth; experience in applying existing and new technologies to deliver against customer goals
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to move quickly between big picture and detail and produce meaningful conclusions to USC leadership and the broader Blue Box
Positive relationship management and team orientation; ability to lead in a cross-functional environment
The role will have dual reporting with functional reporting to Investment Services team located in the USA and local administrative reporting.
Critical Factors to Success :
4+ years of related experience to deliver analytics and insights on sophisticated datasets with proficiency in SQL, Hive, Python, Shell scripting, PowerShell
Experience with data analytical tools, data visualization and scorecards / dashboards:
Strong proficiency with MS-Excel formulas like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, sumifs, graphs, etc.
Knowledge of SAS, Tableau or Power BI would be an advantage
Skills for working with large data, interpreting results, business intelligence and analytic standard methodologies
Extreme attention to detail and accuracy – strong sense of responsibility and accountability
Skilled in problem solving and resourcefulness to solve problems, debug code, and produce results quickly and independently
Ability to break-down a sophisticated problem into components, solve them using data analysis, process knowledge and communicate data analysis, issues and control recommendations with transparency and integrity
Good communication skills and equally capable of interacting with peers and marketers
Ability to excel in moments of peak demand when resourceful prioritization is required
Willingness to try different things and share new point of views, and a self-starter who can work independently
Proven track record to lead and manage multiple projects and provide developmental feedback across deliverables
