Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical engineers on a project providing technical direction to the team to ensure on time and quality deliverables.
Mentor and develop junior engineers in the team
Create project proposals with identified cross functional partners, resource requirements; ensure compliance to stated project goals.
Incorporate required regulatory standards in developmental and/or sustaining engineering projects including written protocols, test methods, assembly processes and the design history file.
Work with R&D partners to establish product specifications, scope, and budget and timeline details to meet business objectives.
Own and Lead the entire new product Development project by effectively working with cross[1]functional teams
. • Lead design and verification in the product development life cycle – concept and feasibility, risk analysis, prototyping, design V&V and designs transfer as needed for projects.
Lead engineering change management projects through using the electronic change management system.
Establish, execute, and report on product development deliverables.
Lead the team in developing and maintaining CAD models/designs for all phases of the stage gate process from concept to commercial launch.
Develop and execute design control requirements including the creation of detailed specifications, design verification and validation plans, protocols and reports.
Lead design reviews with cross functional team to ensure the design meets the product requirements for safety, reliability and manufacturability.
Address field questions, compliance issues, product failures and report to management on actions.
Prepares reports, presentations and spread sheets of an analytical and interpretative nature to be presented to team.
Perform analytical modelling / analysis in support of meeting design requirements.
Identify materials and specifications for components, subassemblies and finished assemblies
Assess customer and procedural needs, generate product concepts, assess feasibility, conduct product testing via models and prototypes.
Implement and maintain a quality improvement process targeting reduction in product variation and product losses using key management tools.
Design, build, test and documentation of prototypes.
Assist with product risk management (DFMEA, DFA, PFMEA).
Desired Characteristics:
Experience in design and development of hand held consumer electronics devices and related processes.
• Experience working on design of automobile engine parts or components for space products. • Strong CAD skills (Solid Works, AUTOCAD) including 3D model design, tolerance specifications and tolerance stack up analysis for product assembles.
A strong mechanical aptitude with hands- on abilities.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Planning, organizational, mentoring and strong leadership skills.
Willing to take ownership and take accountability for teams’ deliverables.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal), excellent team player.
Ability to work independently and with cross functional teams.
Ability to build relationships within and outside of the organization.
