THE ROLE
Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible of overall day-to-day operations of the porter team to ensure the safe transfer of patients and their belongings throughout the Hospital and assisting clinical staff in the movement of patients.
The Porter Supervisor is expected to undertake porter tasks and is responsible for staff training, rostering, job allocations, along with assisting the Environmental Services Manager with the management of the department.

Key Accountabilities:
Assist the Environmental Services Manager with the coordination and planning of all patient transport, medical equipment and linen service activities
Responsible for the rostering and allocations of team and maintaining timekeeping and personnel records as well as day to day management of the team
Assist the Environmental Services Manager to maintain WH&S and hygienic standard of the entire hospital and clinic (MQ Health) in line with policy and standards
Ensure all patients and medical equipment transportation is serviced daily in line with operational checklists as per MQ Health policy and standards
Attend medical emergencies and assist clinical staff as requested
Assists with completion of competency training, growth and development opportunities of self and others
Complete hands on training of all porter service personnel through the use of MUH training programs, operational checklists, policy and procedures, product specifications and other components of the porter service department
Training all staff to use equipment and transporting patients safely and providing personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring they are accessible
Report and monitor maintenance requirements for equipment used in the department
Oversee the correct storage and control of all porter service equipment.
Cleaning and disinfecting of patient mobility and medical equipment.
Ordering and managing clean linen service and ensure delivery of linen service across MQ Health
Assist with the development and maintenance of department policies, checklists, procedures and manuals.
Ensures timely, open and honest communication with all clients and stakeholders
Participates in audit preparation and auditing processes
Ensures all mandatory education, annual reviews and competencies are completed in a timely manner
Ensure usage of the MQ Health IT systems is in line with the authorisation granted to this position
Demonstrates a willingness to work positively within a team to achieve team goals and the provision of excellence in service delivery
Participates in and contributes to occupational health and safety activities to ensure a safe work environment for clients, community, staff and visitors
Complies with obligations under Work Health and Safety Act 2012

Previous experience in a private hospital environment
Role Specific Conditions:
Health Support Certificate II or Health Support Certificate III is desirable
First aid certificate / BLS Certificate is desirable
Working with Children Clearance
Full Australian Driver’s License
