Job Description : We are looking for a passionate person to hire as an assistant teacher in our one year old classroom. You would aid our lead teacher in the morning. Our preschool teachers must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach our students effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. You must be willing to get your hands dirty and be creative in allowing students to grow and learn in a fun and interactive way. You must also be able to complete basic care tasks such as diaper changing/aiding in potty training, preparing and serving food during lunch and snack times, and communicating effectively with parents about their child’s daily progress. Cleaning your classroom at the end of the day is required for afternoon staff. Being able to promote a safe work environment and maintain healthy coworker relationships is a must. The main goal of these requirements is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of our students so they can more easily acclimate in the eventual next level of education.ResponsibilitiesEmploy a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, music and movement, etc.) to teach childrenObserve each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteemEncourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional argumentsGuide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, letters, do arts and crafts, etc.)Maintain nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all timesTrack children’s progress and report to parentsCommunicate with parents regularly via the bright wheel app (age two’s and under) and classroom facebook pagesCollaborate with other coworkersMaintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standardsAttempt to find a sub off the provided sub list if you have to call out for any reasonSkillsExcellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methodsPrevious experience a plus but not a requirementFamiliarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classroomsExcellent communication and instructional skillsAbility to act as mediator between childrenCool-tempered, friendly and reliableBalance between a creative mind and a practical acumenCertification in child CPR (if you don’t have this we will help you receive it)Job Type: Part-timePay: $9.00 – $13.00 per hourSchedule:Day shiftMonday to FridayEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Work Location: One location
