Job Description : An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Psychologist to support in the leadership, service development and delivery of a new workforce initiative.

34 Trainee Associate Psychological Practitioners (TAPPs) and Associate Psychological Practitioners (APPs) are working in Primary Care Networks (PCNs) across the Lancashire and South Cumbria footprint. Mental Health Practitioners working in PCNs (General Practice settings) is a relatively new initiative, as a result of Community Transformation Plans in order to meet the recommendations set out in the NHS Long-Term Plan.

We have funding for an 8b, 3 days a week, for a 12 month period to support with this important workforce and service initiative.

The (T)APP is a new role that has been developed as part of a drive to increase access routes into psychological professions, availability of psychological practitioners in practice, and to broaden population access to psychological theory and intervention. The TAPPs positions are the result of an exciting collaboration between Health Education England (HEE), the Innovation Agency North West Coast (NWC), University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation trust (LSCFT). Together, we are now committed to providing excellent clinical support and leadership whilst they are based in general practice and community settings across the Lancashire and South Cumbria footprint.

Across primary care and community settings, the (T)APPs work will have a significant focus upon mental health prevention and promotion approaches. Historically, there has been a greater focus upon the promotion and prevention of physical health factors in primary care. However, as the recognition of there being ‘no health without mental health’ and a push for ‘parity of esteem’, there is now a greater focus upon mental health promotion and prevention and we are excited to be able to offer this service across the Trust.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area.

Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust encourages flexible working, we believe that a positive work/life balance benefits NHS employees through improved health and wellbeing. We would consider working patterns such as; term time, part time, compressed hours, flexi-time and career breaks. We encourage applicants to state clearly on their application forms this request and discuss these options at interview.
