Department Profile
Transaction Reporting sits within Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Technology (IST) and builds a platform for meeting ISG’s (Institutional Securities Group) Transaction Reporting obligations around the globe. The platform supports all major global regions and all products traded by ISG. The QAEM (QA Environment Management) squad provides a key support service ensuring environment stability and swift support to stakeholders.
QAEM support service manages test environmental issues, queries and requests from a broad base of users including Development and Operations teams who require in depth investigation of issues discovered while testing. QAEM support service is responsible for a variety of issues ranging from simple queries to debugging the root cause of a fail trade. QAEM support service manages the general stability of different QA/test environments, enabling development and test staff to focus solely on their primary purpose without the interference of support responsibilities. The primary task of QAEM is to ensure testing is not blocked by proactively managing user issues and environment needs. These efforts enable the business to deliver new features and business optimally.

Role Profile
The Transaction Reporting Team is looking for a Level 2 QA Support Engineer to join the QA Environment Management Squad. You will be part of a dynamic team that manages the test environments within GTR. As part of this Squad, you will:
Monitor and respond to user-reported application queries, bug investigation and analysis promptly and professionally; monitor and respond to infrastructure alerts promptly and professionally; ensure issues are tracked through to resolution. Troubleshoot hardware, software, application connectivity and network issues, database, hardware and application alerts.
Manage proactive ready-for-business checks, identify and fix gaps, respond promptly to failures. Ensure efficient incident management, ensuring accurate communication to impacted groups and timely resolution
Facilitate root cause investigations and manage the implementation of corrective and preventative measures
Respond to regulatory and compliance issues with urgency
Liaise with external technology vendors to coordinate changes and resolve connectivity issues
Leverage tools and resources available within the firm to simplify, automate, or eliminate inefficiencies
Ensure general environment maintenance, purge, clean up DBs
Interact with Developers and Stakeholders to understand and automate deployment
Continuous deployment and automation of RFT env verification
Foster continuous improvement within the squad, question existing processes to proactively identify opportunities to automate and enhance the service provided. Drive opportunities to improve automation for deployment, management and visibility of our services
Partner with development teams to drive stability, operational excellence, and a culture of efficiency. Be a DevOps and SRE Culture Carrier within the immediate and global team
Ensure team knowledge is current and forward-looking. Be an ambassador sharing findings and mentoring other squad members
Research, Experiment and Recommend appropriate automation tools and techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
Support experience in full, end to end Software Delivery Lifecycle
5 + Years of experience. Background in Computer Science, B.Sc. or Equivalent, or practical experience is a reasonable substitute
Experience with Object-Oriented Programming, particularly Python
SQL (DB2 and Greenplum)
Shell scripting
Strong Unix/Linux knowledge Proficiency with Linux Strong SQL databases experience such as Sybase, DB2, Oracle, able to search log files and compose SQL queries
Able to read and understand a Java Stack Trace
Able to troubleshoot, problem solver, analytical
NAS Storage: Infrastructure
Strong understanding of MQ
Experience providing application support for a back-end financial system
Experience working in a global team
Able to popularise technical documentation
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
