About Us
At Canva, our mission is to democratise design and empower creativity for anyone and everyone, on every platform. Inspired by a team of talented thinkers, an amazing culture and a remarkable growth trajectory – we’re out to change the world, one design at a time.
Since launch in August 2013, we have grown exponentially, amassing over 75 million monthly active users across 190 different countries who have created more than 6 Billion designs. We are one of the world’s fastest-growing technology companies and we have only achieved about 1% of what we want to do.
About the group and team
Canva’s Marketing & Engagement Group has a big mission to build the most loved brand in the world! Our success is shaping how we communicate and relate to our community, and guide teams internally to deliver delightful product experiences and communications.
We’re looking for a skilled Senior ASO Strategy Manager to join our Mobile & App Marketing team, working closely alongside some of the top marketers in the world. You’ll thrive in a fast-moving, fluid environment, and be passionate about shaping user-centric experiences, communications, and working with diverse groups of people across the organisation to achieve your goals. You have in-depth experience in ASO with a global skew, who thinks strategically and is prepared to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
We are looking to build on our hugely successful growth strategy by doubling down on organic mobile & app growth and growing our ASO team. Canva is seeking an experienced Senior App Store Optimisation Strategy Manager to work alongside the existing team of ASO managers and designers, along with marketing and product teams to grow the app user-base and empower the world to design.
About the candidate
Teams at Canva strive to strike a measured balance between getting things done effectively and long term maintainability. We keep things tight, with no big egos, promote a highly data informed approach and welcome self-driven professionals to come and join in on the adventure.
We are looking for someone who lives and breathes ASO and has a passion for all-things mobile and app. You will be enthusiastic about embracing the different opportunities & challenges that come with working across a hypergrowth, global company. We ensure that the Canva workspace is set up for you to do your best work and have a great time doing so.
The successful candidate thrives on challenges, is not afraid to try new things, going from project to project without losing enthusiasm. They enjoy finding new ways to improve efficiency both in terms of ASO performance and the process. And they enjoy testing entirely new levers for organic, on-store growth, beyond CRO and metadata optimisation. They are able to balance long-term strategy with short-term milestones and are able to prioritize for impact and continuous growth. They are excited about working with cross-functional teams and are not afraid to get their hands dirty.
The Senior ASO Strategy Manager will help coordinate Canva’s mobile & desktop app strategy & prioritization within key app stores and continually find opportunities for growth.
You will work closely with the existing ASO team (including graphic and motion designers and other ASO’ers) to expand markets covered and grow our app audience. You’ll also work closely with Growth and Brand Marketing teams – integrating Canva’s app store presence with Canva’s regional and global marketing campaigns.
What You’ll Do
Work on Canva’s global ASO strategy across over 50 countries and 100 languages
Work alongside the mobile & app user acquisition team to contribute to the strategic framework and roadmap for ASO for both mobile & desktop apps
Evolve the ASO testing methodology & experimentation to maximize impact
Ensure relentless prioritization to deliver a roadmap optimized for impact at scale and aligned with business priorities
Engage other teams to identify opportunities for high impact growth initiatives
Support impact measurement initiatives and work alongside data scientists to build measurement solutions
Manage agency consultation projects to support filling knowledge gaps and accelerating growth
Support incrementally measurement initiatives across paid and organic. Work closely with the performance marketing team for experimentation opportunities and initiatives to drive incremental growth
Who You’ll Be
At least 4-5 years ASO experience on a global scale, with a proven track record of devising and implementing ASO strategies and partnering with the app stores to grow mobile audiences.
Experience across both branded and non-branded terms, and how to create impact for apps that are relevant for a large variety of non-branded search terms.
Agency or client side, we don’t mind as long as you have experience growing organic installs and improving conversion for all traffic sources — not just doing ASO or improving keyword ranks without real impact. We don’t set goals or measure success by keyword ranks.
You’re a big thinker and are excited to test new strategies to achieve step change growth on the storefronts (keep in mind that no black hat or grey hat tactics are allowed).
Experience working with App Store Connect and Google Play Developer console is a must. Along with App Store Optimisation tools like AppAnnie, Mobile Action, AppTweak, Storemaven and so on.
Experience working with desktop apps stores such as Microsoft Store and App Store Connect for Mac apps will be highly regarded.
Proven understanding of how app stores operate and what drives performance. And we want to see a passion for ASO!
Passionate about cultural localisation and the role it plays in the way we approach online marketing. Experience with ASO across different locales and markets is a must.
Clear, concise and persuasive verbal and written communication. Ability to convey strategy and prioritization to senior stakeholders.
