This is Senior R&D Engineer -Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) role, reporting to R&D Product Manager and part of Electrification Business Area for Smart Buildings Division based in Bangalore. In this role you will be responsible for determining environmental impacts, through the development and use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and management of LCA data of product and materials included in certifications which will directly impact the existing product portfolio and future products. To collaborate closely with R&D, procurement, Quality suppliers and global product teams to provide analysis of materials and processes from an environmental impact perspective.

R&D Principal Engineer
Your responsibilities
Support ABB’s Mission Zero emission till 2030 by using skills to conduct LCAs in close collaboration with local R&D, Engineering, Process, Quality, Suppliers and other ELSB (Electrification Smart Buildings) units spread globally.
Support to create difference and new experience in the eyes of customers, through speedy PEPs (Product Environment Profiles) for products.
Partner with global product teams for conducting LCA(Life Cycle Assessment) for them.
Liaise with R&D, engineering, process, digital and commercial functions to ensure robust data management.
LCA inventory and data collection through different sources like windchill, SAP, suppliers and online tools of all phases.
Link all information details in SimaPro LCA software to the data already available in the Eco invent database, or any other databases, following the modules, A to D of EN 15804 entire life cycle.
Inventory phase data summed in the LCA software and translated into environmental effects using characterization factors from the PEP method.
LCA report writing as per PEP ecopassport®PROGRAMME
LCA report Review as ISO 14040 & 14044 and latest version of PCR.
Conduct ISO 14040 compliant product Life Cycle Assessments and generating Environmental Product Declarations.
Prepare PEP Eco passport report, Verification and publish with program operator.
Investigate and undertake analysis on how to improve existing products and bench marking of the products.
Your background
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Sustainability, Environmental Science with related field experience.
Minimum 10-15 years of experience in similar field.
Strong experience in using the LCA software Sima Pro, SAP & Windchill is an advantage.
Experience in Auto cad, Creo, Windchill & SAP is an added advantage
Knowledge of design Development low voltage Switchgear products like MCB, RCCBs, Distribution Boards or Similar products is an added advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling you to run multiple tasks simultaneously and meet targets and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills making you able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and explain complex data in a simple way
