The GE Gas Power Energy Consulting organization offers global clients a wide range of solutions across a spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Our software team provides engineering simulation software including GE PSLF, which enables our customers to model the physics of the bulk transmission power grid, including steady state simulation, equipment dynamic modeling, contingency analysis, optimal power flow, and remedial action schemes.

In this role, the Senior Engineer will work towards a bottom-up redesign of the PSLF simulation engine using software architecture best practices, and connecting that engine to the existing PSLF advanced user interface and ancillary PSLF applications. The candidate will also work towards developing a web-based API for PSLF simulation data and results.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
As part of a team, design and develop a bottom-up reimagining of the PSLF mathematical simulation engine using .NET Core in C#
Create a REST API allowing access to power flow simulation input and output
Create a web-based framework to present power flow data and results
Integrate the redesigned simulation engine with PSLF’s existing user interface and ancillary tools
Work towards a web-based data submission framework for customers to submit power flow data electronically to be consumed by PSLF
Work closely with internal and external customers to understand needs and translate into product development plans
Assist with software development operations and quality assurance testing
Provide customer support, including teaching and assisting with occasional training classes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Management, or related field from an accredited university or college
Minimum five years of commercial or academic experience developing software within the .NET ecosystem
Desired Characteristics
Experience with .NET Core 6, Entity Framework, MAUI, and/or Blazor
Experience with database design and performance tuning, particularly within SQLite
Experience with REST API development and concepts
Experience with WPF (Windows Presentation Framework)
Experience developing for applications involving mathematical calculations, including algorithmic optimization and performance tuning
Experience with software best practices, including continuous integration, test-driven development, and QA processes
Experience with various DevOps tools and concepts, including JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins, Propel CI, and/or Docker
Experience developing engineering software tools, especially in electric power engineering
Self-starter with the ability to lead development projects
Familiarity with all aspects of the software development life cycle
Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
