Our European finance team, based in Reading, UK, are looking for a Senior Management Accountant to provide support to the EMEA region and wider accounting function, specifically month-end close reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is recently qualified and keen to learn, grow and to develop their career in a rapidly expanding technology business. The role will have access to accounting and finance leadership, use cutting-edge technology to automate and operate accounting processes, and be hands-on in the development and implementation of internal controls.

You’re a self-starter and not afraid to own a problem – able to pick up new information quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment where the customer’s experience is as important as the technical solve. The ideal candidate is proficient in managing and analysing big data, and skilled in utilising software tools, such as Excel and Alteryx to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of processes. In addition, they will have good accounting knowledge (US GAAP), experience implementing internal controls, and is confident working with external auditors. They are an analytical thinker with a data driven background that supports cross-functional work.

A look inside the job:

Assist with month-end close process and other finance related tasks:

Ownership of balance sheets of EMEA entities (UK, Denmark, Germany and Netherlands) and monthly P&L variance analysis
Record monthly journal entries, including but not limited to cash transactions, payroll, expense accruals, inventory adjustments and intercompany
Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Assist staff accountants with their assigned monthly journal entities, balance sheet account reconciliations and ad hoc queries, as required
Ensure data integrity for assigned accounts including compliance consistent with internal controls, by maintaining and reviewing activity
Investigate reporting discrepancies and communicate issues, effectively, and in a timely manner
Development of SOX compliant documentation for internal controls
Support business processes by partnering with other departments, such as FP&A, Accounts Payable, Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, Human Resources, and Supply Chain Operations
Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement and automation
Assist with external audit requests during both the annual audit and quarterly reviews
Partake in ad hoc accounting or finance projects and analysis, as assigned

About you:

Accounting or similar degree, or equivalent experience
Qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA
Experience of 3 years + working in a commercial environment, preferably within the technology industry
Experience with working in a complex ERP system; NetSuite is preferred
Intermediate/Expert level Excel skills – comfortable working with and analyzing large datasets
In depth knowledge of Accounting theory and application of U.S. GAAP
Strong written and verbal communicator: proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business partners at various level in a clear and concise manner
Ability to facilitate and resolve issues
Motivated by learning new things
Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise workload
