The role / What you will do at Ciena:
We are looking for highly motivated and talented software engineer to work on design, development, testing, documentation and analysis of modules or features of new or upgraded software systems and products. Develops and/or executes implementation according to project plans and priorities.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain software micro-services, libraries, and features for Blueplanet’s Intelligent Automated Solution (IAS) software stack
Create automated test suites for executing test automation of IAS features
Troubleshooting product issues found in system integration testing and customer deployments
Work closely with local and remote software development & test teams
Participate in all phases of the development cycle – plan, design, implement, review, test, deploy, and documentation
Required experience and skills
BS in CS/EE or related discipline
8+ of professional experience developing carrier class software
Proficient in Python development in Linux environment.
Strong and effective software design principles with demonstrable results
Databases one of at least: PostgreSQL, Oracle, Cassandra, Elasticsearch DB
Ability to work in an Agile environment (using Jira as a tool for example)
Desirable knowledge or experience in (a plus – not mandatory)
Cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Openstack etc.)
Familiarity with TMF standards like TMF640, TMF641
Interfaces to SD-WAN Controllers, NMS/EMS, Virtualized Infrastructure Managers
Fundamentals of SDN and NFV (Network function virtualization)
Basic understanding of networking including L0/L1/L2/L3 Switching & Routing, NETCONF, YANG
Excellent understanding of code versioning tools(git)
Distributed platforms and stream processing using Kafka or similar systems
