About the Role
The Growth platform team is part of the AdTech ecosystem in Uber. We are an energetic team that are passionate about helping Uber grow by efficiently spending our marketing and growth dollars. If you are interested in making a direct impact on the company’s bottom line, join the rapidly expanding Growth platform Tech team in Bangalore. Uber spends a significant amount on our ad and marketing efforts which can be optimised significantly. We are seeking talented engineers who will help us build the software systems that will make this happen. The team is in its early stages, so you can drive products from inception to adoption and further iterations.

What the candidate will need
Design & Architecture skills: Evaluate, compare and contrast different design approaches and make the optimal long-term architecture choice.
Strong Coding & Debugging skills: Candidate is proficient in at-least one of Java, Python, GoLang. Should be willing to dive deep to identify, troubleshoot and solve problems with efficient solutions.
Team player: Collaborate with PM, business and other peer engineers in the team and deliver high quality output.
Big Data: Experience with systems like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, SQL/NoSQL is preferable.
Quick Learner: Able to quickly ramp up on new tools and technologies and adapt to the business and technical needs.
– What the Candidate Will Do –
Work with product managers, architects and engineering managers to understand and define product requirements and roadmaps
Technically lead one or more teams to deliver features across Uber’s entire technical stack
Adapt to meet the needs of our massive growth and rapidly evolving systems.
Write maintainable and extensible code with high quality tests and documentation.
Understand and use existing systems efficiently, contributing to them where necessary
Ship high quality products with an eye on scale, reliability and engineering excellence
Build and work with real-time services along with batch data pipelines that track and attribute ad spend to actions that Uber users take (e.g. take rides, eats orders, etc.).
Build systems that get us free traffic (SEO and content) instead of having us pay other ad networks for it.
Build systems that will help us target the right kind of potential users.This involves working with datasets that are world population scale (billions of rows).
– Basic Qualifications –
BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in backend software system design and implementation
1+ years of data engineering experience is preferable
Strong problem solving skills and expertise in data structures & algorithms
Strong experience in one of Java, GoLang, python programming language
Experience with agile mode of planning and executing tasks

7+ years of backend software development with design and architecture skills
2+ years of big data experience
