Team Description
In order for Visa to deliver on the vision of the best way to pay and be paid for everyone, everywhere, the IAAS Systems and Storage & Engineering (ISSE) team and DSE – Distributed Compute System engineering is a part of the Operations & Infrastructure organization – must provide best-in-class infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, continuously available, and run-on software-defined infrastructures.
Responsibility
Participate in all aspects of the x86 hardware lifecycle within the Visa Distributed System platforms. Participation includes analysis, automation, testing, certification, documentation, and support. Analyze hardware functionality and business requirements. The candidate works with users, vendors, and other stakeholders in the certification process to ensure that the server hardware meets business, technical and security requirements. Will certify new hardware as required. Will create and maintain all necessary documentation for support hardware types including the development of hardware bundles to include detailed certification processes and procedures, certified products, certification scripts, QC and findings and installation and maintenance scripts. Evaluate new hardware advancements and firmware configuration updates using Ansible and Restapi based methodologies. Work with various support groups and operations teams to ensure that the hardware meets quality and performance standards. Engage with vendors and SMEs to address hardware quality and stability issues as they arise.
Technical Requirements:
Seven or more years of solid experience working in complex / geographically distributed Datacenter/IT environments
Deep technical level knowledge understanding high performing / highly available and secure computer systems built upon x86 based technologies and protocols (NVME of fabric, GPU, PCI-E etc.)
Expertise in Enterprise Server Models and server based sub-components like storage/network controllers, HBA, Hard Disks, SSD etc with detailed understanding of their features and functions.
Strong technical level knowledge of Intel/AMD processor architectures and GPUs systems including cache, various levels of memory hierarchy and hardware level security.
Deep technical level knowledge of Out-of-band, UEFI and BIOS and the implications these settings have on performance and security
Demonstrable experience in Hardware Lifecycle Management which includes Hardware/firmware and OS level driver certifications.
Should have continued experience in installing, configuring, supporting and maintaining Compute infrastructure management and monitoring tools
Ability to run Performance benchmarks and evaluate new technologies to support Linux, Windows, Containerized and Virtualized platforms
Should possess strong knowledge in Ansible based solutions and capability to automate hardware configuration and deployment tasks.
Good to have experience working with physical server Deployments and Cloud based environments.
Expert level knowledge / experience in scripting using Powershell, python or other scripting language
Highly motivated, enterprising, excellent team player, also able to work autonomously
Hands on experience in an IT Engineering role and established IT operations methodology experience (e.g. ITSM/ITIL)
Proven accomplishments and success in customizing, integrating and implementing enterprise solutions.
Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting skills, and possess an ability to explain technical concepts and provide mentorship to junior staff

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field required,advanced degree preferred 7 years of relevant working experience in large enterprise operational environments requiredBroad knowledge in hardware, software, network, and applications deployments thru automationConfirmed experience in an application hosting or data center environmentConfirmed experience with maintaining highly available and highly secure systemsGood hands-on technical engineering professional with business insightStrong process orientation and solid grasp of software development and testing techniques, methodologies, and best practicesGood experience in design and implementation experience with custom and off-the-shelf applications, and help coordinate activities of multiple technology domains in terms of design and deployment ITIL certification preferred
