What we’re doing
With us, you’ll experience Collaboration . This role sits within Membership & Property Tribe within the Customer Product and Experience Group. The Tribe is focused on building all-new experiences and capabilities for realestate.com.au, Australia’s largest property website and app, with over 11 million Australians visiting each month. While no two days are ever the same, you’ll be doing:
Contributing to the overall technical direction for REA in collaboration with other senior technical leaders.
Providing technical direction to your team.
Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users.
Leading engineering teams in the implementation of major products.
Maintaining existing products, including bug fixes and “Business As Usual” feature enhancements.
Supporting production systems.
Contributing to the REA knowledge base through blog posts, brown-bag sessions and coaching less experienced members of the team.
Work closely with the Consumer Architect and Technical leads to ensure the consumer platforms have a clear and consistent architecture and software design across the web and app experiences we support across consumer.
You will be the people manager for 1-3 other technical team members. You will be responsible for guiding and developing their career pathways, giving them timely feedback and assessing their performance.
Who we’re looking for
As a Technical Lead you will be responsible for the architecture and design of our systems. In collaboration with other technical leaders across the business you will provide input into the technical vision of REA and apply it to the sites and products in your area. You will combine your extensive technical experience with your understanding of the business to guide your teams through all aspects of software delivery.
Someone with a few runs on the board – you will likely have extensive experience working in software development and some exposure to leading engineering teams.
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or similar highly desirable
Looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens
Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment
We are after someone that has had a well-rounded experience in web, mobile, API development, systems architectures and/or data integration
Worked with infrastructure teams on AWS, GCP or Azure and has an appreciation of cloud engineering practices and worked with.
Experience working with multiple product teams to support integration of a shared platform/capabilities into their products is preferred.
Experience in privacy, data integrations, event-driven systems is a bonus.
