Role Description
As the Test Automation Engineer, you’ll run the QA process here at FACS. We’re looking for someone who is excited to build out a complete QA automation process – having complete ownership over this critical initiative. Our goal is to create automated test coverage for 80% of our current platform and then, utilize the lessons learned, to expand automation coverage to our new platform. You’ll also help our Customer Support team investigate and document bugs reported in the software by users or one of our automated bug reporting processes. This is a critical role that will have noticeable impact on our entire company and our clients.
We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about testing, has worked independently in small teams and startup environments, and is hyper communicative. Experience in automated testing SaaS software and a willingness to own the product is crucial as we identify the correct cloud-based testing tool for the Platform and apply automated testing.
Our technology stack is Linux/Apache, PostgreSQL, with a Laravel (php) back-end. Our front-end primarily utilizes jQuery, HTML, JavaScript, and some Sass and Angular. FACS has a closed API for our React Native mobile app (iOS).
Responsibilities
Identify a cloud-based testing tool, to design, write, and manage a suite of comprehensive end-to-end and feature tests for a complex digital document management system.
Manual testing for bug fixes and new features in our desktop and mobile platform as necessary.
Design stress tests to find application weak points.
Target 80% automated test coverage for an evolving SaaS platform.
Manage the automated bug reporting processes, documenting bugs and moving them into our bug tracking system Jira.
Provide input to improve the QA and release lifecycle.
Provide clear and contextual communication.
Work with our Customer Support team and help evaluate feedback from users on bugs and use-cases to improve tests and help engineering more rapidly debug issues.
Required Experience
4 years writing automated tests and working on high visibility software products and services.
3 years of experience with automated, cloud-based testing tools like Ghost Inspector, Rainforest QA or similar
Be an advocate for improving our development, testing process, and stack.
Communicate clearly and efficiently to prevent delays and disruptions.
Participate in company meetings and video calls.
Quiet work environment.
Stable and fast Internet connection.
A desire to improve a product and the users’ experience through anticipating system failures.
Strong work ethic: Work efficiently and undisturbed, remotely. Work schedule is flexible based on location. Some overlap, ~4+ hours a day, with the west coast team will be needed.
