Job Description : Job Purpose and Impact

The API Engineer in Cargill Data Function, you will design, build, and deliver high-performance, data-centric APIs to help unlock Cargill’s data. In this role, you will partner closely with members of Cargill Data Platform team and other Software Engineers to come up with innovative ways to solve data challenges and demonstrate deep engineering expertise. You will show passion for new and evolving technologies and be willing to push their application throughout the organization. Key Accountabilities

Collaborate with the Business/Application/Process owners, and Product team members to define requirements and build scalable and performant APIs and applications.
Participate in the decision-making process related to architecting solutions
Design and Develop Applications and ensure they are supportable as part of DevOps model
Configuration and Development of microservices and RESTful APIs to move and/or optimize data assets
Build prototypes to test new concepts and be a key contributor of ideas and code that improve the core software infrastructure, patterns and standards
Help drive the adoption of new technologies and methods within the Software Engineering team and be a role model and mentor for API engineers
Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Four or more years of experience in Programming using Java, J2EE, Spring

Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of experience in building and deploy Applications using docker and Kubernetes
Two or more years of experience building Cloud native applications with RESTful API Architecture, Knowledge of API Gateways is desirable
Experience in developing software using agile methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban
Three or more years of experience in Application Integration working with SQL and NoSQL Databases
Experience in interacting with Business users
Experience in open-source projects leveraging collaboration tools like GitHub
