The API Governance Architect is responsible for ensuring that APIs developed within Citi’s Global Consumer bank meet Industry best practices. Champion the technology and capabilities for API strategy to enable business capabilities. The API Governance architect should be technology and process-oriented, develop strategy for API reuse, automation, and standards across all platforms in APAC/EMEA.
This position is responsible for executing day-to-day API Governance activities such as reviewing and approving API and product changes, BIAN alignment of microservices, and supporting and integrating Governance controls into the CICD pipeline. Ensure adoption of API Standards and introduce new technologies/tools for automated Governance controls. Govern GCT’s methodology for API development with the goal of achieving speed and stability via high frequency deployment in a multi-tenant model with reduced Lead time.
Proficiency in API industry standards, concepts and methodologies such as OAuth2, OIDC, Open API Specifications, API classification, Versioning, and API gateways is a must. Business and product knowledge across different domains is also required for driving data models and service landscapes for APIs.
Relevant experience in API design & development with Apigee API Gateway. Relevant experience in maintenance of API Lifecycle in Apigee API Gateway. Experience in REST web services, Springboot, and other integration technologies.
Knowledge of Industry best practices with Open Banking trends and standards. Awareness of fintech strategy and relative standards like FDX, BIAN, PSD2, CDS, HKMA and other regulatory initiatives preferred.
Responsibilities:
Discuss requirements with the application teams across different domains and review/approve all API, product, and microservice changes
Enforce API guidelines and governance processes throughout the API lifecycle
Demonstrate knowledge in designing Restful APIs against Industry Best practices
Experience with Swagger/Open API specifications
Understanding End to End API Lifecycle Design time and Runtime Aspects in Apigee gateway
Relevant experience in maintenance of API Lifecycle in Apigee API Gateway. Experience in REST web services, and other integration technologies.
Enforce API design is aligned to the enterprise data models and API and domain strategy/landscapes.
Promote and drive reuse for APIs
Close partnership with key stakeholders including business product owners, solution architects, engineering leads, business architects, data modelers and security architects when conducting day-to-day governance activities
Produce API metrics and reports as/when required
Develop tools for automation activities and enhancing developer experience
Qualifications:
5 to 8 years of overall IT experience with at least 3+ years of experience in API design & 1+ year with development with Apigee API Gateway.
Experience defining and managing guidelines and processes
Expert in designing APIs using data models and API-first strategy. Hands on experience writing Open API specification. Understanding of industry standards and best practices.
Expert in micro services architecture and good understanding of various integration patterns. Able to determine tradeoffs while choosing the right pattern.
Experience with Event driven architecture, synchronous and asynchronous messaging.
REST APIs, graphQL, kafka/solace, asyncAPI, gRPC.
API Security
Coding required to conduct POC for evaluating new technologies, POCs and defining tradeoffs.
Experience in Java, Springboot, React and Angular UI development (Recommended)
Kubernetes/OpenShift knowledge (Recommended)
Experience designing Cloud native applications. (Recommended)
AWS and GCP certifications (Recommended)
Experience with API tools such as Swagger Editor, Splunk, Service/API catalogs
Experience in Agile development methodologies
Experience in source code management tools like Bitbucket (GIT) and process flow management tools like JIRA (Recommended)
