Job Description : We are looking for a Data Journalist to join our growing team working across all of our regional and national brands to help with conceiving, developing, producing and curating innovative data-based content packages for multi-media channels and print.

Key Responsibilities
Locating key sources of data that are useful to journalists and consumers
Manipulating raw data with spreadsheets and other software to find stories or other useful content for titles across the Reach PLC group
Communicating those findings in the form of regular news stories that are compelling, well written and appeal to our audience; flagging up story opportunities to editors around the group
Working with designers and coders to visualise the data in the form of compelling maps, graphs, charts and other interactive gadgets.
Finding, conceiving and developing technological solutions to help present data packages in a compelling and original way
Developing ways of generating original data, such as through ceFreedom of Information requests or web scraping
The Ideal Candidate
A strong news sense
A great storyteller, able to write in a clear and accurate way
A high degree of creativity and imagination
An ability to interrogate data quickly and intelligently, to find the stories or other content that our readers want
First-rate communication skills and an ability to boil down complex material into simple, compelling content
A high degree of computer literacy, with a proactive attitude to solving technological problems in terms of finding, “scraping” and presenting data
Awareness of, and ability to productively use, software for manipulating and visualising data
The ability to follow instructions and produce work to deadline
Relevant qualification or experience working in a journalism role previously
