Job Description : M&S is an iconic British retailer focused on own label businesses within Food and Clothing & Home, as well as Bank & Services. We are on our biggest ever transformation programme! We are focusing on key initiatives such as driving efficiencies in our retail operating model, modernising our end-to-end supply chain, growing M&S Online and developing our store estate.
Key Accountabilities:
Full ownership of the planning cycle including regular forecasting, annual Budget and longer term planning
Lead on business and financial planning processes, including Strategic Integrated Business planning
Full accountability of financial reporting including period end close and key performance indicators
Responsibility for the Investor Relations materials to support the Clothing & Home narrative
Producing the monthly management pack including active discussion with the leadership team on analysis of underlying P&L trajectory and relevant in year actions
Production of Monthly Operating Review and Quarterly business review meeting
Work alongside Strategy and Customer Insights in developing and integrating the Market, Customer and Product strategies
Maintaining the relationship with teams supporting Clothing & Home in our Business Service Centre
Leading Finance transformation for Clothing & Home in data, analytics, and reporting
Collaborating closely with external auditors at year end and half year and acting as a point of contact for queries
Developing talent in Clothing & Home Finance including leading a team of six and driving continuous improvement in financial leadership and direction for the business unit
Developing relationships across as the Clothing & Home and Finance leadership teams, deputising for the Head of Finance where appropriate
Key Skills:
Qualified Accountant
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, business appraisal and analysis
Understanding of with governance and controls
Effectively led change and transformation
Can communicate with impact to senior management, business partners and wider finance teams
Experience leading and developing a team
Commercial understanding of the business and market
Can articulate your message clearly and effectively to a broad range of audiences
A continuous improvement mind set, able maintain and further enhance controls and process
