The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Lead Software Engineer to join a Digital and Technology team.
The Lead Software Engineer will work closely with their team’s Product Manager and are jointly responsible for delivering the product roadmap, while also setting the technical direction and standards within their team.
The Lead Software Engineer is expected to provide coaching to help build and develop the engineers in the team. This is a hands on technical leadership role and not a people manager role.
The Right Fit
A successful applicant will have great development skills coupled with pragmatic thinking to reach the right outcome for the business. Key to success will be demonstrating the following experience:
Strong experience with modern JavaScript web application development. Preferably 5+ years of experience in development.
Strong understanding of system design and software development best practices
Preferred experience in a lead development role in a project or product team. We are open to candidates with strong experience
stepping into leadership roles.
Experience in an eCommerce space is preferred but not required.
A clear and considerate communicator, able to clearly articulate technical outcomes and the need for them, express robust opinions, and
appreciate other points of view.
Experience creating maintainable React applications that grow with the business.
Commercial experience with NodeJS and server-side JavaScript.
Experience with, or a desire to learn, GraphQL on both the client and server-side.
Solid understanding of test frameworks for CI/CD purposes and release automation.
A humble and honest individual who strives for excellence and is ready to challenge the status quo with people, processes, and systems.
