Applications are open to engineers based in Australia with the opportunity to work remotely from your home office.About the jobAs Wisr continues to grow off the back of the last 21 quarters, we are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team. With some foundational work already in place, you will be working on our Azure platform and continuing our IaC rollout. We are maturing our systems, going from start-up to scale-up.Although our systems run 24/7, most of our staff and customer activity is within office hours so don’t expect any late night calls, if at all.When you first join the team, these are some of the core tasks that you’ll be working on:- Recreating our manually deployed infrastructure using Pulumi- Analysing the current state of our setup and providing recommendations- Reviewing the security setup of our environment and making changes to improve it- Assisting product teams with platform decisionsLong term, you can expect to be working on:- Planning, provisioning, and managing cloud infrastructure, calling upon your strong exposure to Azure.- Seeking automation opportunities and leveraging modern tools to speed up delivery of applications and services.- Creating templates for a repeatable deployment process- Documenting and implementing a DRP- Running fire drills- Helping us continue our transition to microservices- Helping us roll out Service Level Objectives- Assisting in enhancing our CICD pipeline by adding automated checks- Working with the Platform team on identifying areas for improvement in our SDLC as well as rolling out changes to make those improvements happenAbout youYou are data-driven, you measure everything you do, and you have a passion for automating things. You have worked with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana, Azure App Insights, New Relic, Datadog and OpsGenie. Staying up to date and in the know with cloud platform design patterns and best practices is one of your favourite past times.With a strong understanding of how to run microservices in production, you know the benefits and drawbacks of doing so, and how to best avoid common pitfalls.You have a clear picture of what a mature platform function looks like. This means amongst other things, you understand the importance of IaC and have experience with tools like Terraform, ARM, Pulumi and scripting skills with PowerShell, Bash and more.You will also have:- Experience with and a deep understanding of Azure- Hands on development experience in a programming language, ideally C#- Experience working within a fintech or financial services environment ideal- Excellent verbal and written communication skillsNot sure if you tick all the boxes?
