✨ OPPORTUNITY
Popstream (https://popstream.live) is the best place for creators to talk one on one with their fans. Live video calls allow creators to have a deeper, more meaningful connection with the people who support them and love them the most.
As the right candidate for this role, you will use your knowledge of TypeScript and Golang to build engaging live streaming and social features that make it memorable for our growing number of creators and fans. Your solutions are scalable, fault-tolerant, maintainable, and operationally sound. Your attention to detail on security, testability, infrastructure cost, and technical decision-making, among others, is critical to this role. If you value learning from data, you will dive into system telemetry data to learn about call patterns, stability under load, and system bottlenecks. ✨ RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, operate, optimize, and maintain microservices in a distributed architecture
Review, clarify and translate product requirements into high-quality, optimally-performing service architectures.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers.
Work closely with our product, design, marketing, and customer support teams on reviewing app metrics, customer feedback, and our own internal service metrics to inform the technical designs and implementation.
Build performant components in our services that scale horizontally, are resilient to bursts in traffic, and can accommodate multiples of future growth
Review and optimize service code for quality, frugality, and performance
Advocate for the long-term solution over short-term, hacky ones
Promote and institute engineering practices that result in high-quality, performant, and maintainable code
✨ BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to write idiomatic, maintainable, and high-performance code in TypeScript for React and Node.js, Golang, or another comparable language that follows industry best practices
Proficient at writing high-quality code supported by unit, component, and integration tests
Proficient at understanding and contributing to large codebases
Proficient with version control
Proficient at component design
Proficient at disambiguating feature requests and proposing solutions supported by internal and external services
Close attention to detail and a passion for quality services
High aptitude to learn new technologies
Proficient at written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts concisely and clearly.
Collaborative working style. Prefers a team environment
You are authorized to work in the US
✨ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and experience with TypeScript for React and Node
Familiarity with distributed and microservice architectures
Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Experience with multithreading programming
Familiarity with writing secure code that protects sensitive data in-transit and at-rest
Familiarity with writing scalable services that support thousands of transactions per second
Familiarity with operational best practices such as monitoring, alarms, and forensic instrumentation
Ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to justify requirements, features and drive the improvement of the application
