Job Title – Principal Software Engineer
The Purpose of your Role
Fidelity Center for Applied Technology’s (FCAT) FinTech incubator focuses on developing modern and disruptive solutions in the financial services domain. FCAT is looking for a versatile software engineer with cloud native application development background for this role.
As a Principal Software Engineer – you will bring your technology expertise, design and development skills to create unique state-of-the-art systems. You enjoy collaborating and mentoring other developers, pair programming, reviewing code and white-boarding problems. You have a passion for technology tempered by a level-headed approach to problem solving, and broad experience in diverse technologies
The Value You Deliver
Design and develop cloud native, scalable and distributed platforms suitable for FinTech platforms.
Collaborate with Architects, Product managers, Design thinkers and Software engineers in building solutions
Influence strategic decisions related to your specialized knowledge area and remove impediments to delivering increased value
Actively sharing insights, knowledge, industry practices and developments, within your area of expertise
The Expertise we’re looking for
Bachelor’s or Masters in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required
10+ years of IT experience
Extensive experience in Object Oriented Programming (Java + Python/NodeJS), API design, API modeling languages and annotations (Swagger), RESTful APIs, OAuth, API Gateway (Apigee)
Proven experience in developing highly scalable distributed systems using AWS services.
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
The Skills that are key to this role
In-depth exposure to and hands-on experience in API design and development of RESTful Services using frameworks like SpringBoot and Django/Express
Hands-on experience in developing event driven systems using Apache Kafka
Hands-on experience in developing and deploying containerized cloud applications using CI/CD pipelines
Hands-on experience with Relational databases(Postgres), NoSQL databases(MongoDB) and Elasticsearch
Hands-on experience in working with AWS services like S3, SQS, RDS, etc.
Hands-on experience in working with UI frameworks like Angular for at least a small-scale application
Exposure to Solution Design
Ability to learn new concepts and technologies in strict timelines
Cloud certification – AWS Solutions Architect – Associate or above is a good to have
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate across multiple organizational levels, with a focus on “telling stories” with data
Willingness to constantly re-iterate design and code for the best solutions
Works under minimal direction
