Job Description : Our client is a healthcare software company that provides value to the employers they work with by ensuring their employees are able to understand and make the most of the healthcare benefits available to them. The client’s suite of products includes applications to help support employees as they navigate both selecting and using their benefits.

The client is currently undergoing a significant tech initiative to upgrade their products to the latest software versions of the technologies they are using. Several of their products are using Ruby and Ruby on Rails for at least some parts of their applications. Along with Ruby and Ruby on Rails, some other languages used by the client are PHP, Node and Java.

Beyond the initiative to upgrade their software versions, the client is also in the midst of building a product platform to enable them to use the user, employer and benefits data they collect to drive more ROI for the employers and deliver a better experience for the employees using their products. Although the platform itself is written in Java, there is a desire to make use of the existing Ruby and Ruby on Rails logic contained within other products to allow smoother integrations between products and the platform.

What Ruby devs will be responsible for:

Necessary software version upgrades

Enhancements associated with optimizing Ruby code to improve performance and alleviate tech debt

Packaging and optimizing Ruby code to support product integration with the data platform

Implementation of identified product enhancements and features for products using Ruby

Level of experience we’re looking for:

3+ years of experience designing and developing full-stack web applications using Ruby, JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks like Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular

Deep Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience – developers who can work independently and learn quickly

Experience with relational databases

Experience with AWS (DevOps experience is a bonus)
