ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for the 24/7 support of MSSQL & Oracle production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by the business systems.
Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system
Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance
To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
Responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
Responsible for problem escalation to MSSQL/Oracle Development team (Vendor) and third parties as appropriate
Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades
Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
Skill/Attributes Needed
5 to 10 years of experience
Curious mind, good interpersonal skills, and excellent technical skills in the area of DBA admin
Strong MSSQL & Oracle Database Administration experience
Strong in RAC concepts
Good in data restore/recovery techniques
Experience in performance tuning
Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems
Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service
Experience in Database Migrations (On Premises to Cloud, Oracle to PostgreSQL & Oracle 10,11 to 18C)
Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
Good Knowledge on operating systems (Win/Unix/Linux)
Knowledge on Oracle OEM monitoring
Good to have T-SQL & PL/SQL knowledge
Good to have cloud transformation experience
Knowledge on open source database (MongoDB, MySQL & PostgreSQL) required
Knowledge on AWS services like Athena, Glue, chime, EC2, RDS, Lambda, VPC, cloud watch, VPC, S3, EBS & S3 Glacier
Knowledge on AWS Databases like Redshift, DynamoDB & Aurora
Scripting knowledge would be an added advantage
ITIL knowledge is a must
