Position Overview
We’re looking for a senior engineering manager to help us realize a transformation in our customer community, shifting our community from a destination to a platform that powers the entire customer lifecycle, expanding to non-traditional customers, to social and to mobile as we do. As part of the community team, you would lead our engineering function, implementing exciting new features at the application level that engage and influence Autodesk worldwide customers, while making the shift to a platform that brings the power of community to all our customer interactions. You will lead our efforts in untapping the data insights that our community holds and making these available to our entire organization and indeed our customers themselves. Our team is new, but our community is not, and this gives us a unique opportunity to leverage a well established and enormous customer community in ways that it has never been developed before, from creating new tools and components, implementing critical services, creating new and engaging end-user experiences, to digging into low-level performance details and streamlining processes.

As an ideal candidate, you have led matrixed, highly-collaborative teams developing modern cloud services, especially in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will have experience executing web engineering projects with a combination of both outsourced and in-house resources to build integrated solutions including bespoke engineering or customization in combination with leveraging cloud-native SaaS providers to their maximum benefit. You’ll have a track record of knowing when to buy and when to build. You know how to be both part of a highly effective team of both business and product management colleagues, while building and leading highly effective and high-performing teams, inspiring them to remain at the cutting edge. You excel at both mentoring and coaching engineers.

Responsibilities
Manage a number of SaaS technology vendors; ensure quality of service and oversee key systems integrations, enhancement requests and issue resolution
Lead and manage outsourced engineering delivered via external service providers
Hire, lead, manage and mentor and develop a professional staff of engineers
Provide insight, feedback, and recommendations to senior management regarding the development, capabilities, and potential of current and future software projects
Work closely with architects, technical leads, product owners, etc. to drive towards a common vision
Provide leadership to achieve a high software engineering standard, including efficiency, quality, security, resiliency, etc
Partner with strategic programs that seek to ensure company-wide standards for security, privacy, reliability and resiliency of our services through compliance frameworks and aligned engineering best practices
Aid in the design and building of solutions, frameworks, automation, and orchestration for a broad range of applications
Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects
Identify efficiency opportunities through automation, engineering, etc.
Collaborate with a geographically dispersed team and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience (MS in Computer Science or a related degree is preferred)
8+ years of relevant industry experience, with 5+ years of hands-on technical leadership and 3+ years of people management experience
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders
Experience in an engineering or technical role delivering software solutions
Experience with the essential Amazon Web Services (AWS) (i.e. EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, Lambda, CloudFormation)
Strong hands-on experience with full-stack web application development in languages such as JavaScript (React) and Node.js
Experience with modern CI/CD practices and tools
Experience with scrum and agile development processes and methodologies
Proactive, quick decision maker with excellent communication and written skills
Proven ability to manage and resolve complex and ambiguous issues

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with user communities, the practices and technologies used in their management
Familiarity with the Khoros (Lithium) platform
Familiarity with responsive web design
Familiarity with mobile application design
Familiarity and experience with Adobe AEM (CQ) and related technologies
Familiarity with responsive web design
