Job Description : ShareCorps-Food Strong-Outreach Coordinator
Our mission is to strengthen and empower communities through fresh, local foods. We promote the cultivation, purchase and consumption of fresh, local foods while simultaneously providing linkage to the other vital services and resources. Food is the tool we use to convene community members, bring in vital resources and foster overall community wellness. In all of our work, we make sure to engage the community. We work with, not for, communities, with the mindset that sustainability is ensured when the community has a sense of ownership over our work. We also form strategic partnerships with groups and individuals from the public, business, and nonprofit sectors. It takes a village, and by working together, we are able to conserve resources while bringing in the services and expertise of a variety of like-minded stakeholders.
Member Duties : Our Outreach Coordinator will work with Food Strong’s staff to address major food security and wellness concerns through our programs. In this role, you will plan, implement, and market our programs. You will also have the opportunity to attend community events and collaborative meetings to provide information to the community about our organization, our programs, and how to get involved with what we do. By initiating and managing the Fresh Food Connect app, you will connect us to farms and people that can donate fresh produce to our students and clients, thereby increasing their access to fresh options. Finally, in this role, you will write grants so that our organization can continue our programming across Northeast Ohio. Overall, you will advocate for Food Strong’s mission, programs, and growth, and you will gain a variety of valuable skills, training, and networking opportunities in the process.
