Queensland Rail is looking for Full-Stack Developer/s with an emphasis on procedural programming languages and an engineering background.

This is a key role within our South-East Queensland (SEQ) Assets Team, providing operational systems engineering services delivering quality, commercially focused operational systems engineering solutions across Queensland Rail.

For this opportunity our Software and Systems Engineers have the below responsibilities:

Implement and maintain complex, distributed multi-system software environments.
Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle from requirements gathering to post commissioning support and renewals.
Be knowledgeable of and implement approved software engineering standards and procedures.
Perform reviews of software changes as required, develop test plans and test specifications and perform testing reviews and audits.
Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to maximise commercial outcomes for Queensland Rail.
Ongoing support and configuration of software and systems already in production.
Undertake other related work as required and directed by the Line Manager in relation to the Projects.

About you:

Be able to demonstrate procedural programming languages and an engineering background.
Practical knowledge of Windows development environments and tools.
Experience in a multidisciplinary, complex and mission critical environment.
High level of interpersonal and communication skills to negotiate practical, efficiency focused and sustainable outcomes.
High level of conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including writing and executing software unit tests and system test specifications.
Knowledge of hardware elements including computer systems in real time Information Systems, interfaces, networking and telemetry equipment.

Whilst there is no direct reporting lines to this position, we are looking for someone who has the ability and willingness to mentor and coach other team members as required.

After the initial transition period into this role, there will be a requirement for you to be available and willing to be on-call outside of (and additional to) standard business hours to provide 3rd line support for mission critical systems. Allowances and penalty rates applicable as per the EBA.

Experience in the following programming languages and technologies will be preferential:

Procedural programming languages
Web apps
C#
AMQP
.NET framework
Knowledge of Windows services, PowerShell
SQL

Qualifications required at the time of application:

Must have a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or approved equivalent degree:
Bach Eng (Electrical/Computer Science)
