Hays are working with an international software company specialising in the security and privacy sector. With their consumer app and enterprise business platform, their goal is to stop the unauthorised use and abuse of your personal data. They are achieving something that has never been done before.

Your new role

They are looking for a Software Development Manager who can work with architects, product managers and team leads to guide the scrum teams towards achieving perfection.

You will plan, prioritise and execute strategic objectives, as well as the career growth and self-development of your direct reports.

Responsibilities:

Play a key role is recruiting and hiring the best engineering talent
Conducting 1-on-1’s, giving feedback and managing the goals/career paths of your direct reports
Refine processes and communication strategies
It is not expected that you will code full-time, but be happy being hands-on when needed and contribute to their software platforms
Collaborate with managers across other labs to ensure consistency in the business

What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in the role of Software Development Manager, you will have the following skill set:
5 + years’ experience building modern software platforms in either a growth-stage start up, consumer product or enterprise environment
Minimum 1 year experience managing and growing software development teams
AWS ((EC2, CloudFront, CloudWatch, VPC, CloudFormation, etc.)
Knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript, Java, iOS, Android

Desirable:
Previous experience as a Hiring Manager
Working knowledge of API design and distributed back-end systems
Experience scaling highly available software platforms
Experience in privacy, security, messaging, telephony etc.
