This is a critical position for the company and department and will serve as the Sys admin for resolving service requests, production issues and project related tasks daily. The successful person hired for this position will need to have a profound background on JIRA, Confluence, Groovy/Poweshell/Bash scripting and basic understanding on DevOps tools, Agile methodology.
Core Job Responsibilities:
A Systems Administrator II begins to demonstrate the techniques and tools of analyzing and resolving technical issues across a diverse technology landscape. This role contributes to administration, maintenance, installations, upgrades, and other technical duties associated with the support of applications and platforms. The Systems Administrator II implements’ changes and resolutions of moderate complexity.
This person operates as an effective and collaborative team member that is focused on the execution of a variety of tasks in a timely, high quality, and thorough manner. The Systems Administrator II consistently demonstrates accountability and integrity aligning with CSG’s core values. This person communicates efficiently and effectively across multiple levels, establishes, and cultivates successful peer and customer relationships, and shares expertise with team members.
Skill Expectations
Infrastructure/Business/IT Processes:
Information Security: Understand applicable regulations (PCI, HIPPA, GDPR, etc.), policies and procedures including how they apply to the areas of responsibility. Begin to demonstrate understanding of the Security Vulnerability Management (SVM) program and operating procedures as it relates to information security. Ensure password rules are followed within Support Applications.
Technical Analysis: Gather and document requirements. Apply analysis skills to fulfill the requirements/resolve the issue.
Technical Design: Contribute to technical design decisions and documentation of designs using technical and functional specifications. Begin to demonstrate understanding of automation concepts/tools and how they can be utilized to support technical designs.
Construct/Implement: Begin to demonstrate how to plan and deliver enterprise solutions that are contemporary, in accordance with architectural guidelines, and aligned with industry direction. Contribute to comprehensive testing of all applications to ensure business requirements are met.
Business Acumen: Continually grow business acumen on CSG process, procedure, and application knowledge to influence/drive adoption of best practices.
Business Process: Continue to broaden knowledge of business processes and systems specific to assigned duties.
Functional Analysis: Have an intermediate level understanding of how to interpret and gather functional requirements. Gather and document functional requirements, focusing on requirements that drive design decisions.
Functional Design: Consistently contribute to the design of solutions, focusing on design implications. Document designs using functional requirements.
Workload Management: Execute tasks. Articulate and track progress towards milestones while communicating/escalating appropriately. Keep the work item updated regularly with clear and concise notes about the work/analysis being performed and close the work item within service level agreement timeframes. Use available tools to independently analyze assigned work. Collaborate with peers as necessary. Operate efficiently with a sense of urgency. Participate in maintenance windows, post-maintenance validation, and on-call duties when required.
Incident/Problem Management: Conduct effective investigation, diagnosis, and root cause analysis of incidents/problems. Start to develop, implement, and document steps taken to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner and validate service has been restored. Know which forms to complete for each work type, and how to open vendor service requests. Understand how to interpret an incident, service request, and enhancement request.
Change Control: Contribute to identifying proper urgency, impact, and risk assessment of change requests. Collaborate with team members to plan, schedule, implement, and document changes in accordance with the CSG Change Control process.
Financial Controls: Execute timely and accurate time tracking of all working hours. Contribute to accurate estimation of work activities and tasks. Gain awareness of user licensing constructs for Support Applications.
Organization Change Management: Collaborate with team members to communicate timing and impact of changes in a clear, effective, and timely manner.
Technical:
Work on incidents and requests daily.
Level 1,2 and senior level support of applications – JIRA/Confluence/Groovy Scripts.
Monitoring of these applications to report alerts and issues to the team.
Clean-up of these applications on a PI basis.
Extensive knowledge in JIRA/Confluence upgrade, migration from Cloud <-> Server, Linux/Windows OS, Linux monitoring commands, Scriptrunner for JIRA/Confluence, groovy scripting for customizing applications, Automation using groovy/Powershell/Bash.
Ensure the committed stories and tasks assigned to the team are closed on time.
Handle On-Call support during weekends.
Handle change request validations.
Automating repetitive tasks using Groovy/Bash/Powershell/Python.
Innovating ways to automate and achieve customer satisfaction.
Writing SQLs to pull and update data for automation.
Profound knowledge and hands on experience in upgrading JIRA/Confluence plugins
Good knowledge working in an Agile framework and about Scrum/Kanban rituals.
Tools:
Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, MSSQL/Oracle/PostGres, Groovy/Bash/Powershell/Python, Windows/Linux server, GIT/SVN.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a technical major such as engineering or computer science.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Agile project.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in JIRA/Confluence.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Groovy/Bash/Powershell automation.
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other staff members.
Thorough knowledge on Agile framework.
Basic knowledge on DevOps applications.
Basic knowledge on writing SQL queries.
Basic knowledge on Windows/Linux server administration.
Knowledge in handling Service requests.
