The Lead QA and Automation Engineer position in the group will own and maintain the test framework for the products owned by the group. At Qualys, we are developing products using industry-leading technologies such as Elasticsearch, Kafka, Cassandra, Redis, Flink, Ceph, microservices, etc. and are looking for passionate individuals responsible for ensuring that the products are robust and scalable with the highest level of quality and prformance. This is a great opportunity to be an integral part of a team building Qualys’ next generation microservices-based platform processing over a 100 million transactions and terabytes of data per day, leverage open source technologies, and work on challenging and business-impacting projects.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 8 years of experience in testing distributed backend software architectures
2. Solid experience in Linux system administration is required
3. Experience in Python, Java programming are a must and additional knowledge with automation tools like Robot Framework is desired
4. Experience with networking, storage, and virtualization are required. Understanding of network flows and packets is desirable.
5. Good exposure to databases. Experience in writing and understanding DB queries
6. Experience with caches, messaging systems, and NoSQL and relational databases is desirable
7. Experience with microservices architecture using Kubernetes and Docker containers
8. Good understanding of cloud-delivered applications is required
9. Development experience in building test frameworks for automating the testing of platform components from functionality, stress, scalability, and performance standpoints
10. Solid exposure to performance, scalability and load testing using tools like JMeter
11. Experience working with web services with HTTP, HTTPS, REST APIs, and JSON
12. Familiar with build processes, CI processes and managing QA Environments as well as working with tools like Git, Jenkins and Bamboo
13. Experience working in a security domain is a plus
14. Experience with Linux based monitoring technologies is a plus
15. Exposure to DevOps technologies is a big plus
16. Experience in delivering products/solutions is a plus.
17. Demonstrable leadership qualities is a must.
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the engineering team to understand product architecture and functionality.
2. Certifying builds of the products owned by the group to go into production
3. Automate testing to a maximum extent to maintain consistency from the lab to production
4. Build and maintain a framework for testing, and integrate into CI/CD pipeline
5. Create and manage test plans and suites
6. Take care of networking needs of QA setups by liaising between cloud services and corresponding appliances
7. Measure and obtain various performance metrics of the products including network performance.
8. Publish QA test pass/fail summary to management
9. Maintain QA environments using Virtualization
10. Take care of DevOps needs of the Group’s lab facilities that will be built over time.
11. Lead and guide junior engineers in the day to day QA functionalities
12. Support escalated customer queries and reproduce customer scenarios
