Job Description : The Cloud Solutions Engineer manages reporting, and remediating incidents affecting the Databricks platform worldwide. You will be at the frontlines investigating performance and capacity issues while also performing initial assessment for outages and service failures. You will also ensure that all incidents are handled with appropriate urgency to meet service Service level agreements and will develop automated tools and dashboards to prevent service-affecting incidents and reduce time to resolution.You will report to the Practise Lead for cloud solutions team.
The impact you will have:
Be a primary contact responsible for monitoring overall service health (i.e. instance acquisition time, network partitions, system metrics) and the performance and capacity of the Databricks platform.
Gain knowledge of the Databricks Platform and its components.
Create playbooks and notebooks for repeatable tasks, building automation and tooling where necessary.
Maintain customer-affecting incidents on the Databricks Status page and document incidents and RCA’s for customers.
Assess the scope and affect of outages and service failures.
Perform service restarts and review service metrics to gain an understanding of load distribution and apply appropriate mitigations. Develop automation based on existing APIs to simplify common repeatable tasks.
Manage code used for updating incidents on the Databricks status page.
Work with engineering and support teams to ensure that platforms are designed with “operability” in mind
Participate in a 24×7 rotation for second-tier escalations.
What we look for:
4+ years experience in Software development / automation. Python, Java, or Scala experience.
Experience managing important applications with code/automation with minimal manual involvement is required.
Experience with SQL-based databases is required.
Monitoring tools (e.g. Ganglia or Grafana).
Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
Cloud engineering experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Microsoft Azure.
You must have excellent written and oral communication skills
