Job Description : 7+ years of experience building production quality software system

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the development of tier-1 connectivity services for Alexa Cloud that enable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices (Echo, Smart Home etc) and Alexa Cloud.
Key job responsibilities
You will lead the design, development, testing and deployment of cross team projects, meet with related stakeholders, drive execution, and mentor junior engineers. You will be an independent technical leader, capable of working on your own and guiding team members to navigate blocking issues. In this role, you will create functionality that will streamline connectivity between Alexa-enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. You will influence architecture across the Alexa ecosystem and play a pivotal role in designing the future of Alexa. You will lead projects to streamline team processes and create mechanisms to reduce churn on implementation.
A day in the life
You will be the technical leader responsible for service design, development, and operations. You will brainstorm new ideas and work on forward looking architectures and design with principal and other senior software engineers. You will architect, analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy software features and defect fixes. You will participate and lead in sprint planning and daily scrums, breaking down technical work, identifying technical blockers, and navigating solutions. You will mentor team members. You will partner with your managers, other technical leaders across the org to achieve a desired technical consensus. You will author docs to communicate vision, proposals and designs.

The mission of the Alexa Connecitivity teams is to deliver a low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and high scalable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. The changes we make, improves the speed and reliability experienced by end customers when interacting with Alexa devices, and simplifies experience for developers and rest of Alexa by abstracting the connection management from them. The team handles tens of billions of transactions per day. We are cold starting this team in Bangalore.So, this is a highly visible role to get in the ground floor, setup your team, transition the project, define the roadmap, build new features, and operate a tier-1 Cloud Service. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Development experience defining, developing and maintaining REST based interfaces
Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts
Demonstrated ability to mentor software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
