Responsibilities:

Establish, maintain relationships and represent company with the official organizations such as local and federal authorities, plant health protection services and other institutions (haulage, waste, etc.)

Develop market intelligence and ensure possibilities of purchasing and selling produce on free market at best commercial conditions

Develop Production, including grower selection and development of quality awareness based on increasing business requirements

Ensure effective contracting and planning of contracted production for the company in order to supply factory with required quantity and quality at competitive cost

Responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in sustainable ways of growing produce, the core ingredient as part of company’s sustainable journey towards planet friendly food, by implementing regenerative agricultural practices

Implement agronomy program in India in order to increase profitability of the organization and growers’ business through the supply of high quality, cost competitive, safe and sustainable raw material to the factory

Develop the Seed pipeline in order to reach an autonomous seed supply level aligned with the increasing produce volume requirements

Ensure compliance with Indian law and organizations policies on all aspects of supply (freight, weight, etc.) and grading station activities

Implement the storage strategy and ensure best practices are in place (quality, storage shrinkage, energy usage, chemicals, etc.)

Understanding organization’s global commitment towards Regenerative agriculture, which promotes biodiversity, more plant cover on fields throughout the year, minimizing soil disturbances & maximizing crop diversity as a way to increase water efficiency, protect against erosion, pump more nutrients into the earth, create greater resilience to droughts & floods, capture more carbon & increase the yield & quality

Key Responsibilities

Recruit the Agriculture India team

Building and maintaining relationship with key external organisations

Building seed pipeline

Secure Contracting of the produce

Optimise variety planning in order to meet factory requirements with connection to local production and seed multiplication constraints

Build the agronomy program together with the regional input and future vision of the business

Propose and monitor the budget of Agriculture India

Assure food safety of raw material

Live the organization’s values with the local team

Represent organization’s Agronomy and Agriculture in diverse groups

Candidate Profile:

Age : Between 45-50 years

B.Sc. /M.Sc. in Agriculture / Agronomy with 20 – 25 years of experience.

A post graduate management degree / IRMA would be preferred though not necessary

Industry preference – Food, Agrochemicals, Fertilizers, Seeds

Minimum 7 years of management experience in roles with progressive responsibility in the area of Agriculture for an Indian/MNC organization

A proven track record of delivering results in India and possibly in an international business environment would be preferable

Strong Agriculture knowledge (growing practices, storing, economics, diseases, varieties, etc)

Exposure to developing new varieties of crop and new areas

Good at Analytics and Statistics

Exposure to Project design & Project Management

Adept at Data processing and relevant internal and external software’s
