At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.
This is an in office position. You’ll eventually be expected to work full-time in our New Delhi office. Due to COVID-19, you’ll work remotely from day one until it’s safe for you to return to the office. Our leadership monitors local conditions and will communicate return to work plans as we approach reopening for the New Delhi office.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to assist in building our new generation eCommerce platform’s pricing and discounting platform. GoDaddy sells hundreds of products and bundles to customers from all over the world. These products and bundles have different pricing terms, discounts, tax implications which require dynamic pricing calculations when a user searches for a product. Add to that multiple currencies and restrictions and you have the makings of a large-scale data retrieval system that needs to answer queries in milliseconds no matter where in the world they are coming from. What you’ll get to do…
Install and manage multiple databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL and Mongo based systems
Ensure the running of the Registry platform meets and exceeds all existing contracted SLAs, including providing all monthly SLA and performance reporting
Assist with the maintenance of the underlying Linux servers, working with the Systems administrator to deliver changes, upgrades, and maintenance tasks
Assist with deploying new software
Assist with Disaster Recovery testing and planning
Manage the performance of the databases
Ensure any external audits or client audit requests are fulfilled
Ensure the security of the data in the databases, including through backup and recovery testing
Write SQL queries and data extraction processes to meet customer requirements.
Work closely with the Customer Service team to quickly resolve technical issues and deliver training and guidance to improve the customer service functions
Your experience should include…
4+years of experience as a Database administrator in Oracle
Experience with other database software including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
Good experience with writing SQL queries
Experience with performance management of databases, as well as the backup and recovery of databases.
Solid experience with managing RedHat Enterprise Linux, including installing, patching, and configuring physical and virtual servers
Experience with server configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible
Basic DNS knowledge of how DNS works
Excellent documentation skills, including the ability to write technical instructions, procedural documentation, and incident reports
Experience with operational support models, such as ITSM
IT security knowledge, ensuring Oracle and Linux servers are always kept secure
Strong drive to learn, grow, and share IT knowledge across the team
You might also have…
Experience with an Oracle RAC environment
Experience with ISO 27001 controls and other IT Security Frameworks
Experience working in Agile based teams.
ITIL or COBIT certification
Experience with AWS databases and compute deployments
Experience with Data Warehouse type systems
Experience with network administration (switching, routing, firewalls)
Experience with coding or scripting (Perl, Python, Java in particular)
