Major Duties:

Ensure logged messages are to the correct standard and structure, ensure they contain useful and accurate information
Ensure data indexed in to ELK is meaningful and searchable focussing on MVP structures and extractions
Create ELK visualisations and dashboards for the teams to use for support and troubleshooting purposes
Ensure tracing is enabled correctly for troubleshooting and any dashboards to rely on this maintained
Work to understand value streams and how these can be represented from the data indexed in to Elastic
Ensure data is being indexed at all times and as near to real-time as possible
Ensure appropriate debug logging is used for the environments and actively manage this with the squads and releases
Help to understand value streams to prioritise the most business sensitive workflows especially during incidents
Work closely with colleagues updating visualisation, dashboards and standards on changes and suggestions to improve the support capability
Where possible support the Devops and SRE functions focussing on quality and reliability
Maintaining and updating the User guide and associated documentation
Align effort to the service management processes to aid seamless integration with Incident and problem tickets

Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent data analytical skills able to correlate events and make sense of data across multiple applications components
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills including able to analyse latency and sequencing of events
Ability to ‘join the dots’ and identify happy / unhappy paths using available data
Influence development teams to enhance logging and ensure it is comprehensive and of value
Proven experience of working with Agile, Scrum, Kanban and familiar with the DevOps culture
Highly experience in Elastic and Kibana and able to produce complex searches and queries and interactive visualizations (ELK APM not required)
Good strategic outlook, change analysis & delivery skills e.g. root cause analysis, prioritisation, planning/scheduling, facilitation, implementation, and continuous improvement skills
Good verbal and written communication, presentation, coordination and negotiating skills
Experience of operating with a high level of autonomy, while still working as part of a team
Experience of the full software delivery lifecycle and systems environments from dev through to production
Pro-active, independent and ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
Ability to influence best practices and governance for logging and visualization standards
Good collaboration skills, able to understand requirements and work with teams to get the best end result
Experience in scripting and comfortable accessing environment related tools to obtain and report from data extracted
Understanding of Golden Signals for monitoring
Experience in using JIRA
PowerBI advantageous but not essential
Scripting advantageous but not essential
Experience in using ServiceNow
Good awareness of regulatory and use of PII and sensitive data
Experience Required:
6+ years of experience with at least 3 years of experience in a data analytics role using Elastic Kibana for aggregation of log data for reporting, dashboarding and alerting
