Role Description
The Cloud Storage security engineer will design and build strategic cloud storage on public and private cloud platforms meeting DWS security requirements. The focus of the role is to support and execute against the DWS business and IT strategy by providing a secure, reliable, flexible, sustainable and cost-efficient cloud environment leveraging modern cloud methodologies and tooling meeting DWS security requirements and be part of an exciting journey as part of migration to cloud

Your key responsibilities
As you help us shape our new environment and ways of working your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Provide hands-on security and networking support and guidance for application engineering teams migrating onto GCP (primarily), Azure
Assess existing GCP deployments and identify security improvements
Evaluate service offerings, working with internal infrastructure teams and cloud providers to build upon security products and support DWS requirements
Design and implement automated solutions for control procedures either as a mix of proactive and continuously monitored assessments
Design private and public cloud storage and backup solutions with architecture leads
Ongoing development and enhancement of the storage and backup environments
Deploy, manage, upgrade and L3 support of all in scope storage and backup infrastructure
Planning, testing and provision of detailed steps to ensure successful completion of storage tasks
Monitoring of performance, capacity and availability of storage and storage related systems
Establish and measure key performance indicators of storage and backup environments
Create and maintain required technical artefacts, diagrams and documentation
Keep up to date with industry trends evaluating relevant cloud storage and backup technologies
Use excellent communication skills to engage with peers and stakeholders at all levels
Your skills and experience
You will have excellent knowledge and experience of enterprise storage coupled with a technically inquisitive and delivery focused mindset. The following is a list of technical areas you should have a deep understanding of along with examples of specific technologies where we would expect either demonstratable experience or an understanding of their function in a modern cloud environment.
Public cloud platforms: Ideally with GCP but if not Azure or AWS
Storage: Cloud native, object, block, file, archival, data transfer, NetApp, Swift, Rubrik, Cohesity
Backup: Actifio Go, Azure Backup, Veeam, snapshots, export
DevOps approach: Agility, shift left, delivery, continuous feedback, customer centricity
Tooling: IaC, VCS, CI/CD, automation, config management, repos, secret management monitoring
Development skills: Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, Python, gcloud CLI, ARM, Bicep, Ansible
Server environments: Windows, Linux, Unix, virtualization, physical
Use your database knowledge to design data storage for security, reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance.
