Description
UKG is hiring a Principal Software Engineer (Backend/Full-stack), who would be responsible for analyzing, designing & developing our high performance software products to meet customer requirements. The candidate must demonstrate good analytical abilities, attention to detail and verbal & written English communication skill. As a Software Engineer, you will be embedded on an agile development team. The individual would also be involved in mentoring the team on technology concepts and best practices to debug & troubleshoot issues. He should have payroll domain knowledge, US taxation and year-end filling knowledge would be a plus.

Collaborate closely with Senior Engineers and Architects to understand and help in conceptualizing the software architectureTo ensure adherence of the development team to the architectural vision of the product and the associated design follow that visionCollaborate with other members of the team, product owners, quality engineering team members and documentation writers to ensure appropriate implementation of business requirementsCollaborate closely with architects to design and conceptualize solutions for multi-tenant/SaaS based offering of the productA mentoring role for other developers, building the skills of less experienced team members and proactively suggesting process improvements as a technical leader within the teamContribute towards actively increasing product code coverage by writing effective Junit test casesParticipates in the writing of technical documents (functional specifications, design documents, etc.) as requiredEstimate the work required for new features
QualificationsStrong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Multithreading, Spring/Hibernate, REST API, Microservices, XMLSQL Server/Oracle/MySQL – Ability to write complex SQL queries and decipher stored procedures, triggers, scheduled jobs, ability to identify when table indexing would benefit query performanceEvent-driven architectureExperience in object-oriented analysis, design & programming, database modeling, etc.Exposure in Agile methodology preferably Scrum practicesExcellent debugging/troubleshooting skillsExperience with messaging/event streaming platforms (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)Teamwork is a mustThe ability to clearly document and articulate the root cause of issues and resolutions to customers both verbally and written within the context of a customer service caseKnowledge of performance monitoring APM tools (e.g. New Relic, Dynatrace, etc.)

Nice to have:
AuthN & AuthZ experience with OAuth, JWT TokensReact JS/Node JS/Angular JS, any UI framework will be a plusExperience in Java11, Spring, Microservices, GCP, RabbitMQQuality Minded – Writes Unit, Integration & System tests with all coding changesGood understanding of Software Security practicesStrong debugging and problem-solving skills and passion for cutting edge technologiesExperience in database techniques/tools such as data modeling, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.Identify trends in customer cases/issues and recommend areas where resolutions can be automated
