Job Description : This role is focused on the front-end UI aspects of visual analytics reporting and dashboards. You will be working closely with analysts and data scientists to understand client requirements and the underlying datasets and models, and then collaborate with engineers to access the data you need to meet those requirements with intuitive, insightful visual analytics reports and dashboards. You’ll be part of a team responsible for using hybrid machine-human systems to collect and enhance data about global security, political and economic risks and use that to power a range of innovative predictive applications to better understand what is happening and changing in the world. Your work will be focused on allowing our clients and internal analytical teams to get the most value from those datasets and models by providing them with the tools to query, visualize and gain insight. You can expect to be working primarily in Power BI.
As a Visual Analytics Developer, You Will:
Develop intuitive dashboards which allow internal and external clients to make sense of large datasets and answer questions critical to their workflows and decision making
Optimise dashboard usability, performance, flexibility and standardization.
Understand visual analytics best practice, how to communicate data appropriately, how to accommodate accessibility issues etc.
Apply corporate look & feel brand standards and UX patterns
Analyse usage and client feedback and incorporate improvements
Keep abreast of available features and plug-ins, research their use and where appropriate deploy them in products.
Work closely with our data engineering team to ensure the data you need is available and appropriately modelled in Azure SQL, Snowflake etc.
Develop an understanding and knowledge of;
The structure and value of our unique proprietary datasets on global political, security and economics, part of 1500+ datasets from across financials, energy, automotive, and maritime
Practical risk and intelligence problems and processes from clients in insurance, tech, natural resources, finance and government.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary global team of industry, country and technical experts.
As a Visual Analytics Developer, you will be expected to have:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
At least two years of professional experience developing BI reporting / dashboards including using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView
Substantial experience writing and debugging SQL queries
Effective analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple parallel assignments and meet specified deliveries
Demonstrated mastery of verbal and written English
Experience In The Following Is Also Helpful
Developing custom functions in DAX
Other programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python, R)
Data visualization libraries (e.g. matplotlib, plotly, ggplot, seaborn, d3)
