Digital Ag Solutions (Portfolio within Yara Farming Solutions) is responsible for developing and scaling new “on-farm” digital and integrated tools and solutions for an efficient and transparent food system. We believe that Yara’s Farm and Field Data Platform is a step in that direction to help shape future tools from Yara. This platform shall help build Precision Farming solutions by analyzing Satellite imagery, Weather data, Soil data, and Crop Nutrition.

Responsibilities

Create innovative insights from imagery and sensor data with a focus on large scale geo-temporal analyses, computer vision and remote sensing, feature extraction from imagery and time series data, crafting complex model architectures using embeddings and ML/DL techniques
Work with multiple Geographic Information System (GIS) Layers such as Soil Maps, Terrain Maps, NDVI (Normalized difference vegetation index), Crop Moisture, Yield, and Weather
Work with a wide range of datasets such as Raster (GeoTIFF) and Vector (GeoJson, KML, ShapeFile, WKT) to build metadata catalog, data science analysis, and help present the results on Geo Maps
Participate in Data Profiling, Data Cleaning and Quality Management
Help with ML Ops from model training to scoring in production environments
Suggest optimum infra-sizing for Data Science analysis (selection of RAM, Cores, Storage is sufficient, actual allocation is automated)
Suggest Data Science best practices and proper use of Code Repository and Model Repository
Promote the use of features available in Yara Farm and Field Data Platform through Documents, Videos, FAQ guide
Profile
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a field related to a computational science
4+ years’ experience working as a data scientist
Able to code in Python, our preferred tech stack
Strong proficiency with geospatial and imagery data such as geophysical soil sensing, remote sensing, hyper-spectral, multispectral imagery, open-source geospatial technologies and large-scale cloud computing
Familiarity with products such as Landsat, Sentinel, WorldView, Planet, etc.
Demonstrable knowledge of processing and analyzing imagery with GIS and remote sensing software packages, such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ERDAS, ENVI and QGIS
Familiarity building applications that work with geospatial data (i.e., PostGIS, Mapbox GL, OpenLayers).
Prior experience of working with AWS Sagemaker/ Anaconda Cloud/ Azure ML
Prior experience of using REPL – Jupyter Notebook, Zeppelin Notebook
Comfortable installing and using Python packages such as Scikit learn, XGBoost
Preferable experience in Agriculture Technology domain
Good communication and presentation skills
Experience in Agile (Scrum) way of working
Experience of working with cross-geography teams
