About the job
A lead software engineer at BASES in NielsenIQ is a technical oriented individual who can deliver on web based software projects. This role will require the individual to be very hands-on in developing software and also be able to guide the rest of the team. The individual will be required to manage the day-to-day activities of the team. This job will need effective communication with product managers and leadership across multiple geographies.
Responsibilities
Design and architect new single-page web applications and develop key system features.
Explore and evaluate technologies to advance our software as a service platform and grow our business
Lead a team that will execute projects from beginning to end, including working with product management, gathering requirements, brainstorming solutions, building final applications and testing.
Delegate tasks to team members matching their individual experience to the task to promote engagement, learning and probability of success.
Supply practical technical guidance to your product manager partner to increase the odds of overall project success.
Troubleshoot technical issues as they appear
Escalate technical issues affecting activities outside of your team.
Enforce community best practices and team SDLC guidelines
Work with your QA lead partner to ensure the overall quality of project deliverables.
Mentor more junior developers and encourage senior developers to mentor as well.
Work closely with architects, and other teams to design and implement cross functional requirements
Lead design and code reviews encouraging participation of your team members
About you
We are looking for people with architectural and design competency. You should also know how to communicate effectively intra and inter teams. You should have trained/mentored junior members.

Qualifications
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related discipline
6 years of software development / engineering experience
Technical skills:
Experience programming in Java
Experience with microservice development is a plus
Experience programming with JavaScript frameworks like Angular
Experience with non-relational databases like MongoDB is a plus
Experience with IaaS & PaaS from a cloud vendor is a plus. Azure preferred.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
