Job Description Summary: Over the last year, PayPal has introduced a range of new products and features for our customers around the world, significantly expanding the functionality of the PayPal app and introducing new ways to use PayPal in more places, both digitally and in physical environments. In 2021, PayPal introduced the new PayPal app, an all-in-one, personalized app that provides PayPal customers with a single destination to easily and securely manage their daily financial lives and do more with their money. This included new features and services like high yield savings, early access to direct deposit funds, new and improved bill pay functionality, messaging capabilities enabling family and friend communications, as well as additional crypto capabilities, and customized deals and offers. In the coming quarters, PayPal plans to add new features and enhancements to the app, including investment capabilities to enable customers to grow money and invest it in things like individual stocks and other assets.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Work as full-time developer/Tech lead for the team.
Ability to craft the long-term technology strategy or vision for the team.
Ability to represent Invest platform to the PayPal organization.
Mentor juniors in the team and help them to sharpen their technical finesse.
Ability to reduce tech-debt and have a plan to remove them from the system.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team to define, design, implement, test, release rollout and support complex software applications in AWS.
Work with business units to crystallize business needs into product features.
Work with engineering managers, engineers & QA to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs w.r.t functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementations schedules and adherence to development goals and principles.
Review and approve software design and completed code.
Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.
Develop new team capabilities to ensure continued competence and relevance in supporting software development needs of PayPal’s business.
Define and devise processes, tools and methodologies to achieve excellence in software development, testing and deployment.
Follow the team processes like Agile etc.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 12+ years related industry experience.
Highly competent hands-on experience in the following:
Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant Node.js applications.
Experience building non-REST APIs such as GraphQL.
In depth knowledge of server-side architecture and design.
In depth knowledge of JavaScript, Node.js and Express.
Source Control (GIT experience is an advantage)
Understanding of core AWS services, uses, and basic AWS architecture best practices
Proficiency in developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS
Ability to use the AWS service APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs to write applications
Ability to identify key features of AWS services
Understanding of the AWS shared responsibility model
Possess a passion for software development and a drive to get things done. Problem solving skills and being open minded about solving a technical problem in more than one way.
Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise communications and documentation.
Ability to work on different applications with quick context switching and being able to debug complex code with relative ease.
Awareness and experience with best practices for web development, accessibility, page performance etc.
Experience with GitHub, managing branches and resolving merge conflicts. Highly analytical, innovative, and able to think strategically and to develop comprehensive detailed specifications.
Ability to determine impact of architectural solutions and recommendations. Must have experience in justification of technology solutions to business leaders.
Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in matrix organizations.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.
Working knowledge in the brokerage/stock trading industry is an added advantage.
