Sub Function Controlling & Expertise
Background:
The role is responsible for the process design and technology of Financial Reporting primary for the Month end Close along with the SCOA changes , including GL master data under Record to Report function (RtR). Key responsibilities include:
Global Process Model (GPM)
Design, manage and support the use of R2R Global Process Model (GPM) across Unilever
Work with ComEx LT and Service delivery managers to ensure GPM compliance (incl. running the Annual GPM compliance cycle), identify non-compliance, mitigate the same and ensure that exceptions are addressed through process design and technology solutions
Lead the Refresh of R2R GPM per agreed frequency.
Ensure Process Design and Delivery of major transformation programs (e.g. Future Finance, Puccini, Annual SCOA changes, etc.), initiatives led by global functional teams (e.g. GCAD) and continuous improvement opportunities in the RtR process area via:
Leading and actively participating in process improvement projects, ensuring the smooth integration of new business processes, acquisitions with organisational structure and culture.
Identify opportunities for the use of our existing assets to their full potential, maximising return on original investment
Work closely with the Markets and PEC / OC teams, to ensure effective delivery all initiatives across different markets
Knowledge Management
Create and maintain R2R GPM process & control knowledge in RtR area to be made available for the ComEx R2R organisation
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of emerging process and Digital technology trends in the RtR process and developments in areas of interest to the organisation
R2R Performance Mgmt
Drive Performance Management for the end to end R2R Process by
Determining, developing and monitoring monthly performance measures specific to the RtR process
Monitor and ensure process compliance – work with stakeholders within Unilever and Service Providers and the wider business to ensure that the Global process model is working as appropriate and best in class
Assist with the definition and operation of effective financial control and decision-making processes
Ensure robust controls are in place for security and access to systems and enabling technologies for capabilities which will be driven across the RtR process
Team
Develop a high performing team of subject matter experts in RtR areas. This Role will have direct line management of 1-2 team members (working from different locations) and will also be required to demonstrate peer and superior leadership across project teams
Key Accountabilities:
The role involves acting as the lead across these activities:
Govern the RtR Global process model
Ability to translate business / financial accounting requirement for IT design in SAP to drive compliance and improvement opportunities in the RtR financial accounting areas
Support the Director Process excellence to execute transformational initiatives in the RtR process
Partner with the ComEx LT and GCAD director with opportunities for improvement in the end to end RtR Global Process Model and Global financial control framework
Skills / Experience / Qualifications:
A qualified Accountant or an equivalent Business Management degree in finance and accounts with 10-12 years of overall experience in Financial accounting
Ability to network and influence senior stakeholders and a proven record in leading change projects
Strong programme / project management experience
Excellent command of English including written, oral and presentation skills
Understanding and excellent application of Analytical tools. Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint capability would be highly desirable
Working knowledge on SAP design functionality on Record to report
Working knowledge and depth of experience in Record to Report operations
Ability to build and lead high performing teams working from different locations
Preferred candidates within Unilever would additionally be/have:
Strong knowledge of Unilever Financial Accounting Policies, SCOA and R2R relevant GFCF controls
SAP knowledge in Financial accounting and R2R tools that are implemented in Unilever.
Strong knowledge and experience of Unilever’s Global functions especially Record to Report
Experience in Unilever Finance especially in MCO / Country controlling and or global expertise roles would be preferred
Strong stakeholder management including senior leader engagement
Key Stakeholders and Interfaces
Group Chief Accountant and his team (GCAD)
Commercial Experience Leadership team and the Service Delivery Managers (working in the 6 Operating Centres),
Finance controllers in Markets,
IT Business partners,
Global R2R Third party service providers,
Corporate audit team,
