About the job

Twilio is growing rapidly and seeking a Staff Accountant who will be a key contributor on our Global Accounts Payable team. This is a dynamic position that calls for high intelligence, professional curiosity, and the desire for professional growth. As a staff accountant, you have a demonstrated track record of supporting a wide variety of responsibilities which includes but is not limited to Preparation of AP flux analysis, SOX compliance and quarter/year-end financial audit requests, Manage annual 1099, 1042 processing ensuring accurate and timely reporting to IRS, Amortization and Accruals, intercompany reconciliation and escheatment process while working closely with the RTR/GL team to ensure proper GL coding of AP invoices and accruals while assisting in month/quarter-end closing activities, preparation of monthly A/P accruals, re-class of GL entries, etc. This position is based out of our Bangalore, India office and will report to the International AP Manager.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

Be responsible for verification, adjustment and assurance current accounting records and provide assurance of workflow based approval process.
Be involved in intercompany reconciliation.
Acting as a sparring partner in close cooperation with our Finance & Controlling, Operations, IT, Sales and Procurement departments.
Proactively and continuously develop existing processes (especially on and in our ERP system as well as in the continuous involvement and development of the closing process).
Conducting month end closing and year-end closing procedures
Lead complex accounting issues resolutions, provide advice to the business
Participate and manage internal and external audit procedures
Implement and ensure that global accounting policies and procedures, agreed internal processes are implemented and followed
Perform according to Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Required:

Minimum of 02 years of experience in Financial Accounting function with shared services center of a multinational corporation desirable
Comprehends and applies IFRS, local GAAP terminology / concepts / procedures / methods under supervision
Understands financial policy formulation and implementation process and able to assist in developing and/or revising policies under supervision
Good understanding of business processes (Procure to Pay)
Experience in ERP system (e.g., Oracle Cloud Fusion, I-Expense)
Audit experience and/or good knowledge of internal controls are preferred.
Experience in the financial services industry or another regulated industry is preferred. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Suite required

Education

Bachelors (or local equivalent) Degree in accounting and / or finance
Professional accountancy qualifications such as, CPA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA are preferred.

Desired:

Lean Six Sigma knowledge desirable
Knowledge of related Accounts Payable technologies desirable including Coupa, Netsuite, Expensify etc
Project Management skills

Location

This role will be based in our Bangalore office. Approximately 1% travel is anticipated.
