Job Description : THE POSITION
Are you looking for a position that utilizes your analytical and accounting skills? The Department of Labor & Industry, Office of Unemployment Compensation Tax Services, is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who is knowledgeable in the areas of generally-accepted accounting principles and procedures.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This Accountant 2 position will be responsible for the operation of the statewide Tax Performance System (TPS), including 13 acceptance sample reviews, systems reviews, and annual reporting in accordance with USDOL requirements. Work includes planning and conducting the review of Pennsylvania’s systems and procedures, including Unemployment Compensation Tax Service’s (UCTS) three major program areas, and communicating the results of the review through presentation of findings and recommendations to line staff and management. This position requires a thorough knowledge of the PA UC Law, rules and regulations, Bureau procedures and policies, court decisions, Attorney General rulings, as well as knowledge of the Federal Unemployment Tax Act, and the Federal Insurance Contributions Act, as they relate to coverage and liability determination issues.

Work Hours and Additional Information:
Full-time employment – 37.5 hour work-week
Work Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; Monday – Friday; one-hour lunch
Work hours are negotiable based on operational needs
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) up to 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to work on-site in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements – one year as an Accountant 1; OR two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
