Job Description : Maintains accounting systems for the Treasury Management area and prepares related reports.

Communicates with agencies and bank representatives to resolve complex problems.

Executes banking transactions between various accounts.

Ensures the accurate documentation of all financial transactions.

Applies the application of the principles of accounting theory to alter and maintain accounting systems.

Agency Minimum Qualifications*:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting and professional experience in related areas such as accounting, auditing, finance, finance and/or banking.

Operating as the private bank for the State of South Carolina, the State Treasurer’s Office promotes a culture that stresses accountability and collaboration. Ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude and have a solution-driven approach to problem solving.

Successful candidate will be progressive, detail oriented and can adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Candidates must specifically meet the Agency Minimum Requirements or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.

Additional Requirements:

Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, thereby facilitating communication with internal and external professional, management and technical contacts. Must assume primary responsibility for maintenance and enhancement of technical systems and operating directives and procedures. Must compile and report data and information accurately and in a timely manner, whether routine or by special request. Ability to organize, edit and produce detailed data within limited time frames. Extensive knowledge of various computer software packages including Microsoft Office.

The successful candidate must be high energy and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, while juggling multiple priorities and still delivering quality work. Must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence, positive attitude, utilize a solution-driven approach to problem solving and understand the importance of maintaining positive working relationships with both internal staff and external service providers. These qualities will enable the ideal candidate to be best suited to further our mission of providing consumer facing investment and financial programs to the citizens of South Carolina.

Must be able to safely lift and carry files, books and reports weighing up to 20 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to reach, bend, and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work and operate general office equipment.
