Job Description : Job Summary
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Accountant I – Payroll in the Finance Department. This position performs specialized duties in support of the county’s payroll operations. Major Job Duties
Performs data entry for all payroll-related entries.
Processes biweekly and monthly payrolls; audits the accuracy of payrolls.
Operates payroll software to track work hours and leave times.
Ensures compliance of payroll with all applicable laws and regulations.
Processes third-party request involving employee pay, such as garnishments, levies, bankruptcies, and child support wage assignments.
Prints payroll checks, notifications, reports, etc.
Communicates with employees to provide information, answer questions, and resolve problems.
Processes quarterly tax reports and annual W-2’s.
Assists with fiscal year audit schedules.
Performs related duties. Knowledge, Skills, and Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills Required – Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Knowledge of job-related federal and state tax requirements
Skill in problem-solving and multi-tasking; detail-oriented
Proficient in the use of computers and job-related software
Skill in oral and written communication Minimum Qualifications – Associate’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university
Three (3) or more years of payroll or related accounting experience
Experience with ADP software a plus Physical Demands
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.
The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.

This position works in a private office in a government building. Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time position with a minimum annual compensation is $38,376 (Pay grade: 14A).
The work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, working in the Liberty County Courthouse Annex in downtown Hinesville, Georgia.
